We docked at 7:00 a.m. and were able to leave the ship around 7:10, I think. We proceeded to the train station - found a taxi for 2 Euro/person, which absolutely shocked me - and easily made it onto our 8:02 a.m. train to Paris. It was an uneventful ride, and then we took the metro to Trocadero and walked to the Eiffel Tower. Because of the crowds, that was about the only thing we were able to do, other than grab a quick lunch and make it back to the train station for the 3:50 p.m. train. But we managed to do all of that and breezed back on the ship. Others who had taken the ship's excursion were delayed in returning from Paris, so we sailled away a little late that evening as well. Wonderful countryside and town scenery all the time. Rouen is full of historic sights, magnificent cathedral and churches, Joan of Arc historic sights, good shops, lots of good restaurants, very French atmosphere.

No one speaks much English, so if you speak French you'll do fine. PS We complained to the front desk when i got back onboard, only to have the guy tell me "we can't refund you". The next day, my husband asked and they happily refunded our money when he asked. So there. Read Less

Honfleur is a very pretty small fishing port, with some astoundingly beautiful medieval type architecture. Great day out, dotto train to high viewpoints recommended.

The trouble with Le Havre is that if you are not interested in its remarkable but brutal architecture, and if you cannot find your way to its lovely Japanese garden - or even if you do, you find it closed - there is really not a lot to do here, unless you shop. You can walk to the centre - the way is well marked from the cruise terminal - but it is quite a distance with not a great deal of interest along the way. Some remnants of the old port. And you may have to negotiate the traffic coming to or leaving the Brittany Ferries terminal. But handy if you would like to visit Paris. Read Less
