As stated. Lehavre is crumby. I thought there would be a cruise terminal not a rundown building that looked like a wartime hangar.

A interesting city, with a sad fairly recent past. It is known as a concrete city as so much was rebuild after WW2 using this drab material, including the soaring, bulky cathedral.

Took a cab to and from MuMo, the museum of modern art. Enjoyable art and a quick trip the day after a long day of flights.

We did Paris on our own. Transportation was good and arrived in Paris at a central location with several hours to tour. We were able to see the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triumph, and Notre Dame with time for a snack at a cafe.

The taxi ride from the cruise terminal to the city center is $8 Euros and takes maybe 10 minutes. It rained cats and dogs and what we were not informed of by the cruise line was that the city is closed on Mondays. Really. Closed. They have a few restaurants and bars open and a few odd and ends shops. The flower shop was open and a few grocery stores. Even the drug stores are closed. We walked a good 5 miles in the rain checking places listed on the map. All closed. So, what we experienced was actually ok, even with the rain. But, we didn't get to experience much. Read Less

We had obtained permission to disembark as we want to see the Canadian D-Day beaches & cryuse line excursions focused on American sites only & very expensive. Four of us booked independently with Normandy Spearhead Tours (euro 560) a full day with a fabulous guide Florin & we saw it all, American English Canadian & more. As we stayed 3 nights in Le Havre before going to Paris, we took the bus & spent the day in Honfleur. Magnificent! Read Less

We took 'Le Petit Train' from the quay for 10 Euros which dropped us off in town. A great choice and a pleasant modern town, though not dominated by skyscrapers.

Though a lot a people booked early excursions to Paris and Normandy, the ship felt full and the line to the free shuttle stayed fairly long. To avoid waiting in line for the free shuttle to downtown, I decided to walk. Within 15 minutes I was walking through a small fish market just across the water from the ship. I then walked up Rue de Paris and found several nice areas including a nice central market. I was back on the ship in about two hours and enjoyed my time immensely. There's also a nice beach which would be about a 30 minute walk. The taxi and shuttle lines stayed long from 10 to 12 but then dissipated. Read Less
