Did both the red and blue Hop on/off bus. Good way to see the old and newer parts of this very busy city. Do it early because it get hot in the Summer and traffic is crazy by mid-day.

again a short walk from the boat leads to an area where you can catch a horse drawn carriage around the town or a tourist bus which does the same

Rather neglected.Chaotic traffic. Took the tourist train for 10 euros each ( about an hour) which was good to see the main sights but did not see any where we wanted to stop .

Port was dirty and not the best city to visit. They should have picked another city, Italy has plenty of them.

was pounced on by people trying to sell us trips the moment we were out of port. It was quite intimidating

MSC Cruises needs to drop this port from the itinerary. This city is ugly, dirty and very poor! I took a city tour and they made us go thru the flea market, which is in a ghetto where people are so poor and dirty that they live in tin houses! Unbelievable! Nothing exciting to see there. It would be better to stop in Salerno with a tour to Amalfi/Capri, or in Cefalu and tour the roman ruins. Please drop Palermo! Read Less

Dirty, full of cars being driven like dodgem cars. My uncle's originally from Sicily, and he advised us not to walk out in to Palmero, and certainly not wearing any jewellery, so we took a tour. Not my favourite place at all. One young family did venture out for about 20 minutes, and after nearly being run over three times, came back on board and stayed there. Read Less

Not a very good for visiting, luckily we joined a trip which covered three different areas and this appeared to be a better option than trying to `do` the port on you own.

This place was very disappointing. Palermo is very dirty and smelly. As a New Yorker, it takes A LOT for me to say that. The city did have some charm but the whole city needs a serious power wash. We took a 1 euro bus ride to get to Mondello Beach (the ship offers an excursion here for 60 euro. All you get extra is a chair and an umbrella). The beach wasn’t that great compared to the other places we had just been to. It was also excessively crowded as it was a sweltering hot Saturday. We barely stayed for an hour and we left. We took a bus to get to the Catacombs (another 1 euro trip; ship also has an excursion here). The catacombs were a little freaky. They said no pictures yet everyone, including myself, was snapping away. We stayed for about 20 minutes and left to go to the markets. Again, hot, dirty and just ok. We went back to the boat early. First time we have ever done that! Read Less
