275 Palermo (Sicily) Cruise Reviews

Explored Palermo on our own. You need about 4 hours to do it all. Lovely food, awesome atmosphere, friendly people. No crowds like in Rome.

Rather neglected.Chaotic traffic. Took the tourist train for 10 euros each ( about an hour) which was good to see the main sights but did not see any where we wanted to stop .

Like Naples, the city is dirty. Don't take a cab or carriage ride as they will rip you off. The hop on hop off tour was also a rip off as you were kicked off after one trip.

Took the Hop-on, Hop-off bus with a recommendation to visit a particular street market that we had trouble finding and sorry we did. To me Palermo is a permanent traffic jam.

Not one of my favorite ports. It was a bit dirty and crowded and not much to see really. Wish I had taken the excursion to any place else on the island.

The ship docks right in the city so you can easily walk around it. A lot of hustlers at the port trying to sell excursions, trips etc so know what you want to do before you get off. Not the nicest city we have ever visited but worth rambling around for a couple of hours. Be careful as the traffic is chaotic and lots of vespa motor bikes. Read Less

Beautiful views coming in to the harbour. We took a "hop on hop off" tour bus which was situated close to where we docked. Good way to see the sights.

HoHo bus There are two routes, blue and red, running when we were in port although they advertise four. Cost 20 euros per person. It was like any other HoHo service although there were times when I couldn't hear the commentary above the noise of the chaotic traffic and horn blowing. Some beautiful places in particular the cathedral. Read Less

Found it very interesting, especially the Norman Cathedral and Palace and also wandering around the historical Jewish quarter, finding street signs written in Hebrew, Arabic and Latin letters. Very easy to get around on one's own.

Went on a tram that took you around a bit of Palermo for 10 Euros. Midway was a stop where there was a beautiful church. My friend and I walked in and Mass was just starting. We are not Catholic but we figured it was Sunday so we stayed. The priest was a very dynamic speaker; however, neither of us spoke Italian so it went right over our heads. We then walked around a bit where I had a very good gelato then we headed back to the ship around 2 PM. Read Less
