The local youth group here also performed a lovely welcome. Again, we did our own onshore excursion. American Samoa is very small and there is not a great deal to see here. There is also very little shopping apart from the market stalls. ...

Took a taxi ($5 per person) to the National Park headquarters in town. Purchased souvenirs (cash only) and got the rare Park stamp for this park. Then walked back to the port while stopping in several shops. There is a small grocery store near the ANZ bank and fire house. Also, shopped at the Wesley bookstore opposite the port. Loved Pago Pago - the friendliest people out of all the ports we stopped at. Went on a tour run by Alofa tours and saw the western side of the island in one of the cool wooden buses.Good commentary throughout and they took us to the top of the mountain for some great views. Went to Sadie Thompson Inn (near Mcdonalds) where it nice and cool in the bar and free wifi. ...
