Another repeat port for us. We took the excursion to Briksdal glacier which is an arm of a much bigger glacier. There are several versions on offer. We opted for the ‘troll car’ ascent rather than walking as it is, after all a holiday. We soon realised that we had made the right decision. After a scenic and informative coach trip of about 30 minutes, you reach a sort of base camp where there is a gift shop and the Briksdal Inn. If walking, you start the ascent here, if you have opted for the easier option, you board your troll car here. It takes the tractor about 15-20 minutes to make the steep ascent winding through perfect scenery with waterfalls and rock faces. At points, there are markers showing where the glacier used to extend to before receding. You do have an uphill walk when you get off the troll car of about 500m. The lake and glacier are stunning and well worth seeing. The lake was only revealed in 1920 when the glacier receded. Please do take this excursion before the glacier disappears Read Less

Lots here but couldn't get many details from QV. Took an open-top out to glacier and really enjoyed the scenery along the way.

Went on a ships excursion to Briksdal Glacier which was the best trip of the cruise. Plenty of time to hike (and it is a hike) to the Glacier - it is more uphill than the tour lady led people to believe though. Then coffee and cake in the restaurant afterwards.Loved it here and would do this trip again!!! So silent at the glacier, but the whole walk was beautiful. We decided to walk really quickly up the glacier and take photos slowly on the way down which worked well as we felt we had more time at the glacier itself. Read Less

we booked neon sky lift shuttle with the cable car tickets as well as glacier sightseeing bus from the tourist office in the port. The sky lift is new . it opened in 2017, it is 10 minutes ride from the port to the cable car station then it takes 5 minutes to reach the top. on the top there is a modern restaurant and you can hike if the weather permits. down at the station , theres is a souvenir shop . Glacier sight seeing bus takes you in a tour around olden ... the scenery is beautiful with two photo stops . the tour takes about one hour ...try to set on the right side . you won't see glaciers ... just snow on the top of the mountains. when it was time to leave the port , Olden port workers put a good bye song... loud through their speakers and wave the Norwegian flags . that was nice Read Less

My Dad and I did the Helicopter over the Glazier £185 each but worth every penny. My Mum and Partner did the City Train and enjoyed it. We then all then went to the glazer area and took the Troll Cars which was fun. The Glazier is a fair walk from where bus drops you and even using the Troll Car it is still a fair walk and steep at time not suitable for wheelchairs I would say. If you go once you get to top area where Troll Cars stop as you walk up to Glazier look out for the first very large stone area on your left it is well worth climbing up to I believe this was the most beautiful view point of all (other than Helicopter) Read Less
