Oh dear. We are enthusiastic cruisers and we took this cruise as it offered a good round trip with easy access (New York). We thought it would be a standard Celebrity offering but it really was not. We have sailed on Liberty of the Seas several times and were very surprised at the change in service, food and general appearance. First, the good: nice ship architecture, pretty good buffet, GREAT entertainment, nice fellow guests, kids had a great time.
Now the bad: surly employees, worst service I've ever experienced on a ship (10 cruises all over world), food decent at best, constant and harassing sales pitches to buy the drink packages.

This was our fourth cruise. Previously, we have gone on Disney (2) and Royal Carribean. It was a last minute decision and we were able to sail for about $699 per person, being able to sail out of NJ when we live in PA, and the longer stay in port were our main motivations for choosing this particular cruise.

I would like to begin by saying I am not normally a complainer. We have cruised before on Royal Caribbean and Norwegian, and thought we had a pretty good idea what to expect from a cruise, but I have to say this was a very disappointing cruise experience, so bad, that my husband and I considered getting a flight home from Bermuda instead of enduring the remainder of the cruise.

In 2014 we sailed on the Carnival Liberty. We were not liking the new American Table menu with fewer choices available in the master dining room and service last year was very slow so we decided to give Royal a try. It's pretty sad that your concluding statement after an RCI cruise is "Gotta Sail Like a Norwegian" but it's true.
FOOD
Royal Caribbean's food was good, 10 yrs ago. Cruise food = good. Food now? RAWR. Lack of variety as people say everywhere in the reviews everywhere. The selections in soup are VERY limited (on some days they're not even available during lunch).

I love to sail Celebrity. This was my first and last cruise on the Summitt. It was not up to Celebrity standards. My husband and I have sailed on almost all the Celebrity ships and we are Elite plus members. The food, service and room was far below standard for Celebrity.

Celebrity summit left a lot to be desired. Wish we chose a different ship for an itinerary that had so many at sea days. maybe if you have never cruised before, it would seem ok but definitely do not feel we got our money's worth & i've always felt the opposite about cruising.
