Many Missed Opportunities Make for a Very Flawed Cruise

Review for a Bahamas Cruise on Anthem of the Seas

I wanted to test the cruise waters post-covid cruising shutdown. The good: RC set up hand washing stations at the entrance to their Windjammer buffet with a staff person directing us to wash our hands in a fun manner; staff enforced the no touch procedures in the Windjammer buffet-offering to serve us immediately; there were many signs posted to urge social distancing; the venues were clean ...

First, let me say I've been a loyal Royal fan for 30 years and am a Diamond member. While I have sailed on other lines as well, Royal has been my number 1 by far. We chose this cruise as a last minute getaway as it was close to home. Embarkation/Debarkation: It’s hard to complain when you leave your house at 11am and are eating lunch onboard at 1pm. Gone are the days of long lines and ...

OK Cruise, not too crowded, good shows, so-so food

Review for a Caribbean - Eastern Cruise on Anthem of the Seas

Wanted a last-minute getaway where we could drive to the port. The ship was not very crowded due to COVID. This was a significant plus since it meant we could get a lounger by the pool. Easy to get into shows, easy and quickly to get on and off the ship at ports, etc. If the ship was at full capacity, I am pretty sure the ratings would have dropped. Loved almost all the shows. Usually, ...

Never going North to go South again!!

Review for a Caribbean - Southern Cruise on Anthem of the Seas

It was 11 nights, we usually enjoy time on the Ship and it was a good price. When we got off the plane, it was 27 and snowing. The next morning it was still snowing, it cost $65.00 to go 12 miles to the Ship. For the first 4 days, it was cold on the ship, once down in the Caribean, it was Great! On the return trip, we ran back into the cold, and that was when a Nor-Easter hit New York. The ...

Continuing Cruise Experience decline on Anthem OTS

(a) Excellently appointed ship. (b) Good itinerary. Suggest substituting CoCo Cay for San Juan. (c) Our balcony cabin assignment change WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE was disturbing. Frequent engine vibrations & high noise level in reassigned cabin. Sleeping Challenge. Reassigned cabin was too far from elevators - for walking challenge cruiser. Allegedly, our selected cabin was reassigned ...

Cruising the Bahamas? Coco Cay Was Amazing, Blue Lagoon Was NOT!

We'd sailed Princess and Norwegian before, but this was our first Royal cruise. Food The food and service was better on Princess (I still dream of how the most simple dishes like fettucine alfredo were somehow mind-blowing!), but Royal's main dining room food was decent enough we'd sail with them again. The Windjammers Buffet was especially ample and fresh -- and we are not typically ...

Not the ship for us

Our teenaged son has gazed longingly at Royal Caribbean ships whenever we've been in the same port. He was thrilled by the size and variety of activities he could see. As a gift to him, we purchased a holiday cruise on Anthem of the Seas since the port was easy to reach and the date worked for his school vacations. The Anthem is a big ship. We logged thousands of steps each day just getting ...

We booked this cruise for myself, wife and 6 year old daughter. The itinerary was the main factor in booking this cruise as we wanted to explore perfect day and take the little one swimming with dolphins in the Bahamas. We flew into Newark airport the night before the cruise and stayed in a hotel. The following morning was sat in breakfast when the ship popped up on the news. Some passengers had ...

What happened to the food?

We took this cruise because we wanted to leave out of the New York area and having sailed on the Anthem several years earlier we would do it again. What a difference in the dining experience. We had the anytime dining and since we reserved the times getting a table went fairly smoothly. The wait staff on the most part was friendly. The food was far below what it had been on prior cruise with ...

Let me begin by saying we had a very good time on our cruise and there were may outstanding and memorable experiences on this cruise. The "problems" I will note in this review are most definitely "First World Problems" and even the world "problem" may be too extreme. And yet, for the price paid ($12,769.30 for two people), I feel there was a justifiable expectation of excellence. Our previous ...
