Great staff, mediocre everything else

Review for a Bahamas Cruise on Vision of the Seas

This cruise was a severe disappointment. The ship itself is ill designed, with no place that is peaceful or quiet. The food in Aquarius ran from mediocre most of the time to a few nearly inedible desserts. Trying Izumi for a change just netted us mediocre sushi at top tier prices. The entertainment in the Masquerade theatre was clearly going through the motions for the paycheck. Further since ...

My wife and I chose this cruise to for our honeymoon. We had signed up to get the packages at a good price and made a few excursions for when we got off the ship. For these parts I had no issues. Unfortunatly it was on the ship that I feel like there wasn’t much customer service. When we went to Taste and Savor for a couple of nights we got stuck waiting 20 minutes before we got to meet our waiter ...

We chose this cruise for the port of departure, New Orleans, and ports of call. New Orleans is always a great city to enjoy and explore before or after a cruise. We had sailed on her four years before and were pleased. The embarkation/self assist disembarkation was smooth and organized. We did not view any live entertainment since theater shows are not our first choice. We were very ...

We went on this cruise for a family vacation over New Years. It was not clear to us that you could only get into certain restaurants with reservations and we ended up not being able to use all of our specialty dining package. The only way we got into one of the restaurants was to show up 30 minutes before it opened to stand in line to get a table, this is not "freestyle dining" and a very poor ...

Entire cruise spent waiting in line for a beer

Just got off 1st NCL Cruise, family of 4. We have sailed multiple times on DCL but were ready to try something different as kids have aged out of the Disney stuff. Overall Breakaway had better food quality across the ship, and the mini-suite Cabin seemed more spacious than regular DCL balcony and had an AWESOME shower. The ship was beautiful and I preferred the smaller dining areas vs the enormous ...

We booked late, and this was what fit our budget. That should have been the first sign. The ship kept reminding me of "The Love Boat" then it occurred to me that it was almost that old of a ship. The styling, the dance floor, the carpet... It all just seems styled in the 90s. Even though I'm sure the vision has had a refit since. I'm not a huge participant in cruise activities, and I'm not ...

Not Worth It

I am an avid Cruiser. I have been on all the major lines many times and this was my 3rd time on NCL cruise and it will be my last. The Breakaway is a beautiful ship, but not worth it. Everything is so compartmentalized. There is really no open deck space, the theater is so small that you need to make a reservation to go see a show and the food on the Lido deck was terrible. My nephew even got food ...

The Ship That Ended Cruising (For Now)

On this cruise, my husband declared that we weren't taking any more cruises, and his decision was based completely on this ship. I've been on many cruises, mostly with Royal Caribbean, a few Carnival and a few Norwegian. This is the first cruise that I've gone on where I couldn't find a place to sit and relax. It got so exhausting trying to find a place to sit down that my husband made his ...

Review for a Caribbean - Western Cruise on Norwegian Gem

We had a package which consisted of QM2 from Southampton to New York, transfer to Norwegian Gem for a cruise around the Caribbean and back to New York, one night in New York and then back on the QM2 to return to Southampton. The contrast between the two ships could not have been greater. As expected the QM2 was brilliant at sailing through extremely rough weather (force 11 and 12 winds and ...

Not so great Christmas Cruise

After sailing with Princess 5 times we decided to try another line to see if we were missing anything. Norwegian's "freestyle cruising" appealed to us because it would reduce our luggage requirements for more formal attire. However, we quickly realized that the dining rooms still had a dress code and the level of service appeared to be proportionate to your dress. We felt humiliated because we ...
