We chose this cruise because of its 5 day duration, lower flight prices to new orleans, and vegetarian food reviews.

Entertainment is an interesting historian and an excellent musician.
All the typical choices at breakfast along with a fresh fruit buffet, 3 main choices for lunch or dinner. The food was good, better than the larger cruise lines, just less choices. House wine was Woodbridge, so you might want to bring your own or buy.

Carnival is always a winner when picking a cruise. Our steward Timur on the 8th floor middle seem to know what we needed each day and was always pleasant as was his helper Maricel. the cruise sailed from NOLA, which is only a 6 hour drive to the port
we dont like to fly, the airports are such a pita since 9/11
the ports were great, Belize has really expanded it's on shore shoping

This was our second river cruise - the first was a few years ago down the Danube in August. The American Queen is a very special ship,not only because of the beautiful furnishings, collectibles and artwork which is abundant, but because of the paddlewheel. Summary: not quite a five star cruise, let's call it four and a half. The good things were great, while the worst were merely mediocre.
