We were on a previous Viking Ocean cruise and it was great. Since we live in Florida during the winter, we thought that it would be fun to go to New Orleans and then cruise the Mississippi. My wife and I have been on over 30 cruises with all the major criuse lines. We were diappointed in the recent cruise with RCL on the Radiance of the Seas. I understand the ship is some twenty years old and some things are just inherent with age. Some of our are issues are with the ship and others with the overall management of the ship.

We choose this cruise for the holidays with my elderly mother, she no longer wants to fly internationally, and wanted to try Viking, this fit the bill. We were scheduled to go to Nola one day early, our TA worked with Viking to get us in 2 days early and beat the storm. Precruise at the Westin New Orleans was very nice and Viking reps were present and helpful.

Well I'm back. Been home for about 18 hours. It was a pretty great cruise. Wonderful people, great food, fantastic excursions. Staff were phenomenal. Really above and beyond. Already replied to my survey with NCL and identified two great crewmembers that made my cruise better.

The main reason this cruise was chosen was location. Being the first cruise since covid, this was a family cruise with 12 of us and was the closest since all were driving. Service was very slow at dinner in the Restaurant almost every evening. I did not like that we were assigned a time for dinner at the same table every evening with the same guest. Chose this itinerary based on only 14 day out of NOLA. Do not enjoy Jamaica anymore but wanted to experience Panama Canal and Limon Costa Rica. The casino (deck 7) with smoking allowed is open to the main public areas of decks 6 and 8. Cigarette smoke was a major problem for my wife (only distasteful for me) and she could not go anywhere on decks 7 and 8 between the forward and aft elevators.
