We spent 4 days in New Orleans Pre-Cruise which definitely got us in vacation mode before boarding the ship. It was our first time there. Had a great time touring and sampling the local Hospitality.

Have visited many times before and done many excursions - great atmosphere / bands in the French Quarter and decent shopping at the port. Shame about the low temp / rain.

New Orleans is a fun city to embark from ... we spent two days enjoying the sites of the city. Would not recommend Bourbon Street on a Friday night ... too loud, dirty and crowded.

Stayed at the Ritz on Canal St for two nights prior to the cruise, thanks to Marriott Rewards points. When we checked in, they offered us a promo - $100 per night for a club level room, with club privileges. Why not - three meals a day plus drinks. The list of good NOLA restaurants I had made went right out the window. We did the WW2 museum for a few hours - got tiresome after a while, I'm not a big fan of war or war movies - then rode the St. Charles streetcar out to the end and back. Had some time on disembark day before our flight, so took the streetcar to the French Market - just a lot of booths of people selling the same stuff, like in the ports - then had lunch on Bourbon St and headed to our flight. Port was convenient and we actually walked from our Downtown/French Quarter Hotel to the ship. The city is a lovely place to visit, and we always enjoy the food.

This rating is for the embarkation experience. The port was extremely difficult to find, as New Orleans signage all led you in the wrong direction. We had to hunt down a baggage handler. The terminal felt extremely closed in, and the lines were ridiculously long. We've never waited so long to board. As a result, NCL did not even take our embarkation photo. Everything was very crowded and disorganized. Read Less

Flew in two days early. Stayed at the French Market Inn. Would totally stay there again. It was a beautiful hotel that was close to everything and still managed to be quite despite all the craziness surrounding it. We primarily stayed in the French Quarter, but we did take a Lyft to the WWII museum. We only had a couple of hours to spend there, but you could honestly stay all day and probably not see it all.
