Instead of going into Naples we hired Giovanni Castaldo from Sorrento Tours to pick us up at the pier and take us to Sorrento and Positano. Giovanni was a knowledgeable gentleman with excellent English. He picked us up at the port on time and drove beautifully. Naples/Pompeii - went on tour of Pompeii and Sorrento. Excellent. In Pompeii would have been better with a map of Pompeii so we could figure out where we were during guided tour. Sorrento was beautiful and we enjoyed time on our own strolling and enjoying gelato and a drink at a cafe. Breathtaking views of the Mediterranean and beach. ...

Pompeii tour was just ok. Naples itself off the ship is pretty dirty, but found a good restaurant to eat Pizza and it was really good. ...

Naples is a nice port to explore by yourself, on foot. Go get an espresso or a pizza and walk around the old town. It's dirty in some areas, but once you're inside the old town, most of it is ok. IMHO the coffee alone is worth it. ...

Be aware that Pompeii on you own requires that you pay 16 Euro admission fee. Signs in Pompeii will direct you to the wrong exit. Follow signs to the left instead. ...
