We went to a pretty little beach. There was no charge. A restaurant there had some lounge chairs, but they were taken very early.

The town itself is wonderful and good for a stroll of shopping and photos. However the tour to Palamidi fortress and Epidarus are just a bit below my expectation, since the tour operator sent a bus and guide from Athen, not local and the tour lady was spending time talking about a lot of things instead walking people through the site. The tour was marketed for like 5-6 hours, but in fact less than 3.5 hours it can be done, also it was probably the most expensive one at $179 USD, definitely not a good value for money as we had a tour in Myknos including Delos island and greek lunch for less than that price. What a beautiful place. We got on the Hop-On and went to the fort above the town. It was interesting with beautiful views all around. We wandered the town when we got back and enjoyed a relaxing day.

The ancient amphitheater of Epidauraus and the ruins and acropolis of the city of Mycenae were amazing. Seeing the artifacts from Mycenae in the National Archeological Museum in Athens brought the city to life even more.

This was an unscheduled stop, due to the port at Athens being closed because of bad weather. This is a tendered port, but plenty of ferries were available to transport guests despite this being a last-minute change to the itinerary. No bus excursions were available, but there is a little tram that does a city tour. We spent the time in port exploring the many side streets full of little shops that are immediately accessible from the dock. Read Less

Nafplion Sep 23, our final port before return to Athens? Kudos again Pullmantur! We walked all the way around the Nafplion peninsula on the Nauplion Arvanitia Promenade. Must-do in Nafplion: Nafplio City has posted a Virtual Walking Tour with incredibly beautiful photos, maps, and audio tours of the Promenade and a dozen other wonderful places to visit at nafplio-tour, gr. Three samples are Nauplion (aka Arvanitia) Promenade; The Shore; and Constitution Square. We started the Nauplion Promenade right at our ship's tender dock; turning right at Il Porto Restaurant, we were on the harbor side of the Promenade. We saw the scenic island Bourtzi Fortress in the middle of the harbor; the 16th century Five Brothers cannons on the hill above the harbor; and kept on promenading all the way around the Akronauplía Fortress, gazing at the sea. We reached Panagitsa church at the peninsula's tip, then Arvanitia Beach beyond, and enjoyed a swim. Next we climbed the first 120 steps of the Venetians' giant Palamidi Fortress, where views of the Akronauplía Peninsula below and the harbor were stellar. Then we walked around the city center; and walked back to the tender dock, all in time for drinks on the ship at 4 pm. Our last evening back on Horizon: finally Greek Night at dinner, the first Greek food which we didn't bring onto the ship ourselves. Delicious moussaka! Read Less

Nafplion is a beautiful town! We did part of the Headland Walk, which is a lovely, short walk which takes you from the harbor front to the town beach. From there, we continued to walk towards Karathona beach. We didn't make it all the way to Karathona, but instead stopped at Neraki Beach. It is a small, rocky beach, but the water is crystal clear and there were only about 20 people at the beach (and for most of the time, there were 5 of us). Perfect water temperature for snorkeling! No lifeguard on duty. Read Less

The tour was Ancient Corinth and Mycenae. We enjoyed it very much. We got to see the ancient forum where the Apostle Paul spoke. Then we went to the Citadel of Mycenae. It was a long walk up the hill but worth every step. We saw the Lion's Gate, and the remains of the Royal Palace and the Treasury of Atreus, known as the tomb of Agamemnon. HAL - EXC - 'Mycenae & Epidaurus.' Well worth it! Our tour guide was magnificent. When our bus first pulled up at the UNESCO 'Royal Palace, Lion's Gate,' site many of us were daunted by the distance to the top of the site. The way our clever and informative tour guide managed our group meant that we stopped constantly to take in sights, learn fascinating details and catch our breath. Our tour guide's initiative and pacing meant that everyone got to the top effortlessly. The views and perspective of the Royal Palace were breathtaking. The 'Treasury of Arteus, aka Tomb of Agamemnon,' was likewise spectacular and not to be missed. Read Less

Visited ruins at Mycenae and the Beehive Tomb; these were fantastic ruins. Stopped at Palamidi Castle and took the stairs (857!) down from the castle to the town. Would not recommend the steps if you are not in good health as they are very steep. It is an easy 5 minute walk from the bottom of the castle hill to the port. Nafplion is a beautiful little city worth exploring. Read Less
