Review for Norwegian Spirit to Africa

Muscat, Oman - Was Port 4 A pleasant port with an interesting fish market and several souks. The Grand Mosque is the third largest mosque in the world and the complex is mostly open to non-Muslim visitors. The Swarovski crystal chandelier, the largest hand-made Persian carpet in the world and the marble panelling are “must see” items. It is open to the public from 9 until 11 am (not noon), ...

I liked the looks of this city but I feel I didn’t get a proper sense of it (my own fault).I enjoyed walking through the souk. Probably would hire a professional guide and driver if I went there again. ...

A beautiful port to arrive in - far more mountainous than expected. We booked a taxi at the port gates for $10 each for a trip that took in the Grand Mosque, the palace and adjoining forts and finished at the souq in Muttrah. A good day out. ...

Thought the shuttle bus would take us into the town for some shopping. It only dropped us off at the port gate. Only 'shopping' was for live and dead fish! Dead animal carcasses. Fruits and vegetables. It was a long, hot and sweaty walk into any kind of half-way interesting area. Most people just got back on the bus and went back to the ship. ...

We were excited to be in a new country - it was the next port after Dubai, and we just did our own walking tour along the corniche to the interesting Souk. It was incredibly hot, it took a long time to get off the ship because there were limited shuttles, and most people couldn't wait to get back to air con. It was not such a great Port really, but hopefully they will improve access for ship ...
