Oceania is our favorite cruise line, so when I was able to book a cruise on their newest ship, the Vista, I jumped on it. I also liked the fall color itinerary that started in Montreal, a city that I hadn’t visited in the past. I had taken a fall color cruise in 2013 after I retired and loved it, so I hoped that we would be able to see beautiful colors that we don’t see in south Florida.

Oceania Vista, Montreal to Miami October 2023. Disclaimers first. My wife and I prefer smaller ships of approximately 1200 passengers or less and Oceania Vista certainly fits that bill. We had taken the Grand European Viking River cruise in 2022 and were so impressed with the experience that we thought we would try the ocean cruise.

We wanted to see the Eastern shoreline and hoped to see Fall leaves, we were a bit early it seems. Everyone at Viking went out of their way to make us comfortable and happy. Went on the Canada 7 night cruise out of Montréal to Boston. Took our family of 4 (kids age 8 and 10), and brother and wife. I had done research and knew this was not a “in your face” entertainment cruise but was laid back sailing on a smaller ship with plenty of room to spare.
