The parking is bad but they are building a parking garage so this should be resolved soon. Checkin and security goes very quickly.

We signed up for the Everglades tour, since our flight was out of MIA at 4PM. It started out fine, but the bus driver missed the turnoff for the road to the Everglades. He got off the highway, made a big looping U-turn, then got back on the highway...going the same way we'd been going! He got off further down the road, and we all helped him find the correct way to to. All told, he set us back around 30 minutes, after we left the port 20 minutes late, waiting for two participants who never showed up. Then the bus driver tailgated a car most of the way to the Everglades, hit his brakes too hard, and too suddenly, and generally made us all very nervous! We got to the Everglades Safari and boarded our airboat for the trip into the Everglades. Really neat experience, and we got to see two alligators sunning on the grass. When we got back we took in the alligator show, and after the show I got to hold Snappy (for a $3 donation), the adorable baby alligator. We then did the self-guided walk to view all sorts of alligators and caymans (caymen?) at their nature preserve. The bus driver then dropped us off at the airport (after almost sideswiping a motorcyclist as we pulled out of the parking lot) - we were all very happy to get off that bus! But all in all a very nice tour, and a much better way to spend the time waiting for your flight. Read Less

We always plan to arrive a day or two early at the departure port because snow in Canada can cause flight delays and cancellations.  The ships will leave without you!  Therefore, we booked a night at the Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay on Feb 8.  It is a lovely hotel and you can see the Carnival and Royal Caribbean cruise ships from the rooms on the east side.    I had pre-ordered a welcome wine and cheese tray and it was fabulous - a 2005 Merlot by Meridian of California with fresh grapes, blueberries, raspberries and orange slices; brie, gouda, mild cheddar, edam and crackers!  It really hit the spot after a long day of travel. The staff were very friendly and suggested that we take a taxi to Ocean Drive along Miami Beach (the Art Deco District) and enjoy dinner at any of the restaurants along the boardwalk.  We also found a Walgreens to buy some last minute items that we didn't want to bring in our luggage.   If we ever travel to and from Miami again, I will probably try to stay an extra day or two so that we can see more of the area.Boarding early the next day (Feb 9th) was very quick and we enjoyed the welcome aboard luncheon before checking into our cabin at 2pm.  Our wonderful cruise consultant had a lovely bottle of Merlot waiting for us in our room and our steward made sure we had glasses and a corkscrew.  Read Less

The Miami port is one of the easiest to go through, they have enough people to check you in and at NCL they sit you in an area and call you by rows so you don't have to stand in line so much

I have been to Miami Beach in the past as well. There is a lot of shopping to be done all over the place. There is a lot of different atmospheres. If you stay in south beach it is party party party time. There are very expensive high end stores and most restaurants are much over priced on collins ave and ocean drive for the food you get. Downtown Miami in the park area near the cruise port looked very nice but very pricey hotels. If i was going to go again i would stay in the Miami Beach section of the City of Miami Beach. Much quieter then south beach but only a short 5 min cab ride away. Read Less

Embarkation was really easy. No complaints at all. Good customer service and a sense of welcoming by the representatives. We expected the port to be pretty crowded since we were not the only ship in dock getting ready to leave. Loved on this cruise that we could do the "Express Debarkation", keep our luggage versus putting it outside your door the night before, and then leave the ship between 7 and 8 in the morning. It was fairly painless. We caught a shuttle immediately (for less than the cost of an actual transfer) and were off to the airport. Read Less

The port of Miami is ok, it's pretty easy to get to from Miami airport although from Philadelphia, Miami airport isn't really that easy to get to. One thing that you should know in the port of Miami. The taxi ride from the airport to the pier is a flat $25 for as many as fit in the taxi. These "shuttles" charge whatever they want. When you leave the ship, be sure to get an actual YELLOW taxi. We were shepparded to a white van was not a taxi but a shuttle. So the ride that should have been $25 turned into $10pp or $40. The ride that the hotel arranged to the pier was cheaper. Shame on me for not asking before I got into the van. Don't make that same mistake. Frankly, the Port of Miami should do something about that and make all the "shuttles" post the rates on the door like the Taxi's do. They should also separate the shuttles from the Taxi area so you know what you're getting into. Read Less

Grand Cayman...took a taxi to the beach, was very nice and save money don't book on the ship. Town was very expensive to shop and crowded. Hondouras..beautiful, there is a new 62 million port that just opened. Many shops, beautiful buildings. There is a beach there with a ski lift to take you over, right at the port. Zip Line that my son and his two buddies took $40.00 bucks with pictures, all new and they loved it. My husband and I took the Tabyana beach excursion...worth every penny. Beautiful beach! Snorkling right there, it felt like swiming in an aquarium. Best experience of the cruise. Belize, went to the dock and took a beach trip with Wet and Wild, we had Randy who was so nice and told us all about his country and way of life...he was awesome. My husband and son took the snorkle with them and it was ok but you really had to be a good strong swimmer and they did not see anymore or less maybe then right at the beach at Grand Cayman and Tabyana. But for the money the beach is really nice. Cozemal...well we took a taxi to the beach, the water was too rough and we could not rent any water sport toys...disappointed. The shops at the port same old crap..t-shirts etc and the people are not very nice! Go into town and see the real mexico. Read Less
