Most of what we saw, we have in Florida. The lunch provided was very nice, however. People from northern states, however, seemed to be impressed by the flowers, fish etc. Read Less

We rented a car and toured the area ourselves. We went to Lahaina for great shopping and eating. The next day we drove to Haleakala Volcano, neat drive.

If you want to see more than the typical tourist traps, get to know some locals, be provided with a narration of the rich history of the farming community, and partake of Maui's bounty, then take this tour. We watched surfers, visited a winery and a lavender farm, had a picnic lunch, plus other stops, all the while being provided with a narrative on the community's history. The local couple who run the tour, Marilyn and Rick, are warm and charming. It was a lovely, lovely day. Read Less

Maui, Not what I quite expected. Didn't take a shore excursion from the ship but did our own thing with a car rental. Reflecting on the time available I would not recommend doing "The Road to Hana". As Nice as it was it was a huge day and exhausting if you drive it yourself. Go maybe as far as Twin falls then go to the needle see the south coast or a mountain it would be a better use of time to see more. Lahaina was nice needed more time, we lost a bit due to finding free wifi and taking my laundry to a laundramat as the ship prices were out of this world $4.50 for a shirt and about $2 for an item of underwear, did a whole bag for $9. 40min local bus trip to Lahaina and there was plenty to see wish I had more time. Took a helicopter ride over northwest Maui and Molokai. Would recommend Blue Hawaiian Helicopters. We saw the largest waterfalls of the Hawaiian islands on Molokai.

Out of all the excursions we took, and we did a lot, this was by far our favorite! We were suppose to go on the late morning trip, but I was nervous it was too close to our evening dinner cruise so we asked to go on the earlier trip. I'm glad we did - the later was cancelled due to rain (which I know isn't NCLs fault). We got to Wailea Beach - absolutely gorgeous and soft sand - and it soon started to rain. I went to rent an umbrella (we already had chairs as part of the excursion) and it was normally $60 (yikes!) but because of the weather they gave it to us for free! So we set it up, stripped down to our swim suites and headed into the water. Who cares if it was raining - we're going to be wet in the water anyway. So I can't swim so I waded out and let the waves pick me up and set me down. The water was warm and just so much fun. We played in the water until we were beyond prunes and then hit the nearby hotel for shopping and lunch. Shopping was supper high end and not for us, we also got a bit lost in the big hotel - it was under construction so we kept running into closed paths. We had lunch at a bar by the pool. Good nachos, good drinks, and very prompt and friendly service. We would do this again in a heartbeat - the beach was amazing and we just plan old had fun and played in the water as if we were little kids again. In fact we're planning a trip back to Maui (ended up being our favorite island) for our wedding anniversary, and we plan to spend lots of time on on this beach! Read Less

PORTS: 1. Maui - We took Roberts of Hawaii (booked before the cruise & cheaper than NCL)on the "Road to Hana" - loved this trip, black sand beaches, hippie type village of Hana, fruit stalls en-route, waterfalls. The bus trip now goes right around the island, coming back on the dirt road on the southern side of the island. On the next morning we decided to have a beach day. So we caught a taxi to a beach park nearby, think it was called Kahana Beach Park (great swimming, lots of kite surfers & sailboarders) Read Less

This was a tender island. Meaning the waters were not deep enough for the ship to dock so it was fun to take in the small rescue boats. Here we really didn’t do much for to get to a great beach it was going to take at least and hour and a half drive by taxi and that was going to take up too much time but we heard some friends of ours on the ship went horse back riding and they had a great time. NCL decided not to go to Maui at all the week we cruise so I can't comment on Maui. It looked beautiful from the ship. Even with a beautiful calm day NCL still didn't let is visit the island.
