The vessel had to tender guests at this port and the weather was rough so getting ashore was difficult and only happened late in the day. The stop was at an area with lots of art galleries and cafes.

NCL decided not to go to Maui at all the week we cruise so I can't comment on Maui. It looked beautiful from the ship. Even with a beautiful calm day NCL still didn't let is visit the island.

Stayed on board ship - even though this is my favorite location on Maui. (Stayed with my husband - not doing well.)

This was a tender port and the tender boats all appeared to have mechanical issues; out of the six it only appears three maybe four more operable.

Arrived after luau had started, missed most of it due to a fire on the mountain and the road being open and closed. Sat on bus for 2 1/2 hours.

We experienced horrible sea conditions he Solstice Cruise to Hawaii. We did cancel our excursions, due to the rough ride for five days at Sea. We wanted to snorkel on a few islands. Because off the rough waters my husband could barely walk after 5 days at sea. He has had two knee replacement, and is completely recovered for years. Till this cruise (been on Solstice before) he never had any problems walking. There was a rumor that the ship had stabilizer issues. Also a buzz that they turned them off to save fuel. Don't know what was going on this ship! My husband is now able to walk normally and no longer needs his cane. Many people sick, unable to walk freely and saw a woman fall trying to enter a tender. On the first day we did a shore excursion that was a rainforest hike to Twin Falls. Our guide was knowledgeable and interesting, the path very muddy and we had to ford a stream with water over our ankles, but we all took it in stride (so to speak). Along the way we learned lots about the abundance of fruit available in the rainforest, and at one point one of the owners of the land we were crossing showed up on an ATV with some fresh-picked passionfruit for us to try. Absolutely delicious! Some of the more adventurous in our group swam in the pond below the waterfalls, but it looked pretty cold to me. Highly recommended. On our second day on Maui we took the local Roberts' bus over to Lahaina for the magnificent sum of $1 each way. Explored Lahaina, did some shopping, and had a very tasty lunch overlooking the beach. Highly recommended. Read Less

Rented a car thru Thrify (Blue Chip!) and did the Road to Hana. My husband and I had done this years before on our honeymoon and we didn't stop along the way. Our goal was to get to the National Park ($10) and do the hike to Waimoku Falls (2 miles each way). My cousin did get car sick on the winding road, but the hike and the falls were incredible. The bamboo forest is different than anything I have experienced...the clanking of the bamboo when the wind blows. Everyone agreed the 400 foot falls were worth the hike! We hiked back down and went to the lower pools, where we got in the water, but it was pretty crowed. A favorite day of our trip. The next day we had reserved the snorkel to Mokonkini Crater and turtle town thru Kathy's Barefoot Tours on Frogman II, but got upgraded (?) to their bigger boat. The snorkeling at the crater way okay (I heard someone say they expected to see more fish and I agreed), but the crew (and meal)were very good, and the next snorkel stop at Turtle Town was probably my favorite. I've snorkeled with Stingrays and swam with dolphins, but the turtles were a natural experience...just watching them surface and go back down to the bottom. I loved it. Read Less

This was Lahaina and required a tender. You have to read my story to understand why only a one rating was given...... Additionally, with the tendering and the short time at anchor it would be hard to have a great time in this port-- We spent three night and four days in this area (remember - this is where we jumped ship!) and it was FABULOUS! Loads of great food! Local Boyz for a Shave Ice! Cheeseburgers in Paradise (great for breakfast, lunch or dinner) Ono's at the Westin Hotel, and of course Mama's out toward the airport end of the island. I thinks it's hard to find bad food on the island! Read Less
