Martinique is definitely not a third world island as it is a French territory or subdivision. Very clean and well maintained. We had a marvelous day with Sebastiano on the North Tour via Viator. Phenomenal individual, guide, educator, and ambassador for Martinique--and originally from Italy. The rainforest, Pitons, rum distillery and beaches are all beautiful and to experience them in one day ...

We hired a private guide there, given that this is French overseas territory and practically no one speaks English. Our guide first took us to the snorkeling beach (Les Anses d’Arlet) located in the South of the island, approximately 50 minutes from port. We changed the clothes in a large public restroom available there. This is an automated establishment and requires 20 eurocents to enter. The ...

This was my favorite port. East walk from the pier to the city center. Some nice sights to see. The city was quite modern. I would suggest walking off and just wondering around. ...

The port itself in Fort-de-France was the nicest of the cruise, but our experience here was our least favorite. The ferry, Vedettes Tropicale, although reasonable was quite difficult to navigate and unpredictable. They don't seem to run by the posted schedule. The ferry ride was very ride, at $7 pp for a round-trip ticket. We meant to go to Anse Mitan, but missed our stop and ended up at Anse de ...
