Review for a Europe - Western Mediterranean Cruise on MSC World Europa

Marseille surprised us. It was clean, fun and very walkable. HOWEVER, a warning about the Free cruise port bus. They start at 9am, not before. It will take you to Place de Joliette for free, but be patient. When we were in port there were at least 3 other ships just in our area, so the line can get long. However, the busses are double sized and have a large capacity, so the line does move ...

Took the cruise shuttle into town, then took a taxi for the water area to Palais Longchamp, which is beautiful It has two museums which are free, the gardens behind the palace are nice. We then walked back towards the water and stopped and had a wonderful lunch. We visited the museum at the waterfront, very interesting and great views it is located near where the shuttles are. ...

I enjoyed the scenic bus ride to Cassis and the boat tour of Calanques National Park. The boat captain was good about turning the boat in different directions when we stopped at scenic points so we could all get good photos without a lot of heads in the way. I would have liked more time to explore the town of Cassis; it looked wonderful. Unfortunately we only had time for a quick cappuccino and ...

Marseille – due to labour protests the port entry was blocked by many trucks. The ship’s shuttle bus was suspended, but when it resumed we took it to Joliette depot in town. The cost was $16 return per person. There was a free port bus but it was suspended due the protest. Other people managed to exit the port on foot and ride the local bus to the old city. We had booked a free walking tour at ...

Very pretty! We took the included tour but then stayed after to wander around on our own. We found Fort St Jean, which is *free* to tour the outside and the gardens and has free restrooms. It’s high up and has amazing views of the old port. It’s very near where the shuttle bus takes you back to the ship. ...

MSC docks very far from the old town, so we took their shuttle for e15. REgretted that, as from the port entrance there is a free port shuttle to old toan. Not exactly sure where it drops off, but NSC dropped off just NW of the NW corner of the old port. WE had time to ride the little train, and expected to stay at Notre Dame for 50 minutes, but completed our visit to the cathedral, viewpoints, ...
