5 day cruise around Northern Europe. I could write pages but will be brief, hopefully useful though.
The ship is stunning, amenities, cabins and most of the staff just brilliant! However and it’s a BIG one, they let far too many people on this ship (6000) so be prepared for noise, crowds, not enough seats in the evening and queuing for everything! All the reviews across multiple review sites ...
This was the second cruise my partner and I had ever taken, the first being a short taster cruise on the P&O Ventura for 4 nights. This cruise was for 7 nights and was visiting 3 locations around the North Sea.
The best way I can describe our experience on Iona is... "Meh". It wasn't horrific, it wasn't perfect, it was just slightly below average.
The positives; the crew were helpful and ...
The cruise was a fairly typical cruise until the final night of the cruise. I was standing on my room's balcony observing the departure from the port of Le Havre, France. Now remember that every cruise line you have ever sailed on repeatedly lectures you on not throwing anything overboard. I was standing there enjoying the departure when I was deluged with an unknown liquid from the deck above. I ...
Chose this cruise as for 12 nights there were 8 ports of call so not many sea days. Sadly a massive storm started on the day of embarkation and messed up the whole trip. Delayed departure and then two ports were cancelled which couldn't be helped. Weather was atrocious throughout. Ship was packed and there was no "quiet space". All public areas were too small and you were continually on top of ...
Will never go on this ship again - cue to get on (2 hours) cue to get a coffee in the buffet. No seats.
Says there are 17 restaurants. Yes -but only 3 that you can use or pay more. Bars the same -always crowded with no seats and almost no waiter service. The evening shows were a joke -but not funny. 30 mins and that was the big show. 6000 passengers , theatre holds 650 at a time. 3 shows per ...
We love NCL, Sapphire level 20+ cruises, however, this cruise was pretty bad.
1- Cruise management
Many problems could have been prevented with better management. With 10+ busses returning from excursions at lunchtime the main dining room was closed . This created a chaotic situation at the Garden Cafe and the Irish Pub with no seating available.
Assigning excursions to busses was also ...
have been loyal P & O cruisers for many years, however our latest one could been the start of the end.
We know Iona is a big big ship but we thought that we would give it a go, unless we try it we cant say for definite that its not for us, sadly Iona is not for us.
Cabin-
okay but narrow, i suppose thats how they fit so many in by making them narrow. storage poor very ...
We decided on this cruise as it was sailing to the Canary Islands from the UK. With it being just an hour flight to London for us and a short enough train journey, it was a good option at this time of year.
After seamlessly boarding the ship, we were pleased with the ship overall. Nice public areas and to a high clean standard also.
We checked into our cabin and liked the decor and layout. ...
Norwegian Getaway is a ship that is totally centred on it's mainly USA clientele. We weren't expecting that - for a no-fly cruise from/to Southampton encompassing mainly Northern Europe. There were no concessions to it's UK passengers in terms of catering (no British back bacon - just the dreadful American stuff. No HP sauce, no Marmite, no skimmed milk) Minor niggles I accept - but without ...
I purchased this for my husband as a little trial as he kept saying he would like to try a cruise.
There were a couple of positives, the food was plentiful and the choice was amazing.
The cleanliness of the ship is very good.
The balcony room was lovely and the lady who cleaned and tidied it was brilliant.
The boarding and departing of the ship was very organised and smooth.
But ...
