This cruise was to see if my partner would enjoy cruising. The bars / public areas were understaffed making both customers and staff irate and the number of seats was in adequate in all areas for the amount of passengers.
Service in dining room was underwhelming, some of the waiters were uninterested in delivering a unique experience, also not bringing complete meals to the table. The public ...
We chose this ship for the one reason, our last cruise was on their flag ship Britannia. The Britannia is a five star ship, the food was fantastic, the balcony cabin was very nice 220 sq. The Iona is a two star ship, very small balcony cabin at 107 sq., the food was cold in the buffet, and over cooked in the Aqua Dining Room. On rough days at sea on the Britannia you may stay inside, and will be ...
MSC seem to struggle to find an identity or target market so end up going down market and lowering standards in their attempt to attract all demographics and sectors.
Firstly the service is painfully poor compared to any of the other mid market lines ( P&O, Celebrity, Princess, Cunard, Royal Carribbean) with most passengers facing long delays in getting drinks especially those with drinks ...
I purchased this for my husband as a little trial as he kept saying he would like to try a cruise.
There were a couple of positives, the food was plentiful and the choice was amazing.
The cleanliness of the ship is very good.
The balcony room was lovely and the lady who cleaned and tidied it was brilliant.
The boarding and departing of the ship was very organised and smooth.
But ...
I’m talking it straight…. If you are black, do not bother with this cruise! The ship is lovely but the staff cannot even pretend to hide their racism towards afro-caribbean people. I would even go as far to say that you can even see the disgust on their faces when having to serve us. I even witnessed them mistreating their own black staff members on the ship too.
The food is mediocre…. The ...
Just returned from the 14 day canary island cruise on Britannia. I am sorry to say it was the worst cruise I have ever been on culminating in four days of food poisoning. The ship is dirty and run down, there are stains on the carpets almost everywhere you look and the food in the Peninsula restaurant was bland, tasteless and repetitive. Our cabin was small and in common with the rest of the ship, ...
We did not choose our 29th cruise because of the itinerary, but because we wanted to sail with the new NCL ship "Norwegian Prima".
Boarding went smoothly without any waiting.
First impressions were very good: modern looks, the corridors to the staterooms have a great "hotel feeling" and are very beautifully designed. The stateroom (balcony room) was the most spacious we ever had. Beautiful ...
Cruising to Iceland and Norway
This ship is mighty unstable in moderatly rough seas and i mean 3ft swells we were on deck 9 forward and massive booming noises were generated by the unconventional bow configuration meant we did not sleep for the first 5 nights due to the noise and the captain had to present himself on the atrium to answer why the ship was so unstable no answer he gave made me ...
Where to begin?
The positives, embarkation was very quick and straightforward.
Entertainment, there was some very good shows on board presented by the entertainment team - there was also even better shows in the skydome performed by an acrobatic group - PULSE the band also put on some good shows each night.
I wouldn't like to name them but other acts we saw were really not ...
As you can see from other reviews, the organization and communication was very rough. I don’t know why. The lines to get on and off the ship and the waiting times were very long. Most staff seemed either unable or unwilling to control the crowds and the lines.
It often felt like neither the crew nor the passengers knew what was going on. For example, the captain cancelled Dublin due to ...
