Last cruise with Fred we were given our first ever upgrade to a magnificent Premier suite, well would you believe it,it happened again,
We stayed the night at the Crown Plaza adjacent to the cruise terminal and left the car there, embarking was fairly easy and our suite was as before sumptuous,
First meal in the Aurora was a disaster, service was abominable, staff were running around like ...
Why this cruise? It was a fantastic opportunity to choose a cruise departing from near to where we live. Our cruise was to the "land of the midnight sun". Most of the guests were either from Northern Ireland, the port before Liverpool, or the North West of England. It was great value.
The ship. Recently refurbished, although showing knocks and dents already. Some of the materials used ...
We chose the cruise because of the Ports of Call and not having travelled to this part of the world before.
The scenery was excellent.
We were very pleased with the cabin, our steward was excellent, very pleasant with a good sense of humour as were the majority of staff we came into contact with during our cruise.
Our first impressions of the inside of the ship were we were pleasantly ...
We chose this cruise on Borealis from Liverpool at 4 weeks notice .we thought we would try an in inside cabin, very roomy plenty of storage .Very acceptable. We were given second sitting dining which we managed to change once on board the ship.
Apparently we were very fortunate. The first night’s entertainment was a show by the ship’s entertainers. It was very downhill from there, till their ...
We chose this cruise to Iceland & the Faroes, because it departed from Liverpool, and we liked the idea of cruising without flying.
The hits:
Embarkation was a breeze. Probably the fastest we have ever experienced.
The entertainment teams, singing/dancing theatre team, plays & vignettes, and the classical duo (Alina & Marina) were excellent; high quality, well rehearsed and far more ...

We chose this cruise because it sailed from Liverpool which is only thirty minutes away from were we live. We usually sail from Southampton. This is our 11th cruise and our first time with Fred Olson.
I would like to start with the positives.
Embarkation was quick. Our luggage was taken off us as we arrived and was in our cabin an hour later. We opted for an inside cabin. We usually have a ...
This was our first Fred Olsen cruise and we were looking forward to being on what was the third cruise on the new to Fred Olsen ship Borealis, previously Holland America Rotterdam, age around 25 years.
Originally scheduled to visit Scotland , itinerary was changed to the Scilly Isles and Portsmouth setting off from Liverpool. Embarkation was from the Liverpool ACC centre where Covid testing ...
The new embarkation system due to COVID worked well (as described on the Liverpool Cruise terminal Website) and we moved on to the ship in about an hour. Perhaps too quickly as I timed our wait after the covid test was performed until we were sent to the shuttle coaches and it was exactly 20 minutes, rather than the 30 minutes normally advised by the NHS to get an accurate result for the lateral ...
Borealis is a nice ship, and some areas have clearly been refurbished in few months that Fred Olsen have owned it. Our Ocean view room on deck 2 was clean, and the carpet was new.
The shower flooded onto the floor every time we used it, so we created a dam with a spare towel to keep the water in. It didn't cause a particular problem for us, but we felt for the lady who had to service the room ...
