Locals really didn't seem to want us there. Drivers didn't even show up to do the tours on a Sunday. Wanted to see the vanilla plantation but didn't get there.

The trip to the Vanilla plantation was interesting, but the trip to the top of the cliffs was amazing. Checking out the cobalt-blue, crystal clear water while drinking from a coconut. That's one more to check off the bucket list.

Another missed opportunity for Lifou - non English speaking driver left us to see the sights, with no background information. Second occurrence on Lifou. Won't be back until can actually learn about Lifou, not just see some of it.

Would have loved to go to Leucila as have done previously but no options. Best snorkelling here this trip. Pay $15 over the hill or just jump in near pier.

There is some great snorkelling at Jinek Bay, some good walks to the white church which has some very good views and you can also swim on the side were the ship anchors and if you are lucky you will see some sea turtles whilst snorkelling.

Absolutely stunning beach with crystal clear waters. Walked up to the church with a lovely walk and loads of butterflies. Lots of market stalls and massages where the tender drops. Everywhere accepted Aussie dollars.

Great swimming if you want to take a dip, water very clean and warm. Just walk to the beach next to the tender docks.

Again we were taken ashore by tender. For some obscure reason the market stall operators had all chosen to double their prices overnight. It was to their detriment because no-one bought anything. They were the same or similar souvenirs that had been on offer the previous day on Mystery Island. People simply were not going to pay $20 for something that was on offer for $10 yesterday. We were told by someone who had been on Lifou for a few days that the day before the prices had been the same as Mystery Island. Perhaps it was the size of our ship and they thought we had more money than sense. We found a shuttle bus which was offering a 45 minute tour of some of Lifou's points of interest. For $13 each it sounded fair enough. First stop was the old Catholic Church - still being used today, then the Chiefs hut (now used as a meeting place) then on to Memory Point. After only a few minutes here we were rushed back onto the bus as our 45 minutes were up. Read Less
