Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Adventure of the Seas

This port was a lot of fun. With other friends on board we chose to do a private excursion and traveled to the opposite side of the island to spend a day at the beach. It was great fun, wonderful beaches and the weather was perfect. For those people staying on the ship or venturing locally to Las Palmas had overcast weather with some rain. ...

This was a pleasant port, apparently fairly affluent. We just wandered around, our initial need was to find a cafe with WiFi access to allow DH to submit a paper by the internet. Despite seeing many, many cafes, we were reduced to going to a McDonald's in a shopping centre to do this! We did look around the small market hall, Mercado del Puerto, on Calle Albareda and wandered around, and would be ...

Las Palmas is a beautiful city. The old center is charming, has a cathedral and a few museums. We visited the free Colon's house which contains stories about his trips. The port is right in the city, and public bus transportation to the center can be reached within walking distance, so this time we preferred bus to taxis. There is also a shopping center right on the port. ...

This was Las Palmas, Gran Canaria. We set off to walk to the old town but gave up due to the heat and the distance. Came back thro' the marina and had a coffee overlooking the boats.Went to the beach opposite the port which was excellent. Protected by a rock wall it was ideal for a dip. Gorgeous beach with loads of loungers and brollies. Enjoyed a few quiet hours here in the sun. ...

An easy port for access to shops and the beach. Lots of announcements on the beach about jellyfish which scared some from swimming. I saw one dead jellyfish on the beach and none in the water. There's shopping mall within easy walking distance which is good for WiFi and your usual selection of Spanish shops. ...

As expected this was the best day of the cruise. Arriving on a Sunday a lot of the shops were closed but we found a huge Sunday market just outside the port which more than compensated for the lack of shops. From there it is an easy walk to the beach of Las Canterenas on the other side of the town. There is really no need to pay for a transfer to a beach resort in Gran Canaria as this lovely ...
