We took the Best of Lanzarote tour offered by NCL. It is an interesting Island. The tour included what I thought was a very good buffet lunch with wine.

There is quite a walk to get out of the port in Las Palmas, and two cruise ships in as well as Balmoral. We have done the bus tour on a previous visit (not recommended, get the public bus to the old town and explore on your own). This time we rented bikes so as to cycle along the port promenade. They had electric bikes and we wish we had rented them as it was very windy and so quite hard work cycling. Hiring was easy, and very reasonable, I think we paid 6 euros per bike for 2 hours hire. Helmets are provided. Read Less

We did a red bus tour here it cost €23 and was brilliant value. We loved the old town and were lucky enough to go up to the cathedral and see an artisan market and street singing. A lovely day.

Port nice and close to City. Nice Prom to stroll, had a good meal at tapas bar in back street, then browsed large City Centre shops.. Most were open, if a little later because it was Sunday.

again just a walk about but the town is right by the port , the market was right near the port so not to much walking needed.

Our extended stay let us go a little further under our own steam. We went to Vegueta, the old town, on the number 12 bus for a couple of Euros, taking about 20 minutes. The architecture around the main shopping street, Triana, is beautiful and rather reminiscent of some parts of Old Havana. We visited the Museum of the Canaries which was a bit old fashioned and apart from a room full of skulls, not overly interesting. After a nice lunch, we went to the Christopher Columbus Museum (my Yorkshire upbringing and infantile humour still makes me giggle when I see the word “Colon”, his Spanish name)… It’s a fascinating place, with lots of old maps of how people thought the world looked, and housed in a beautiful old building. Highly recommended. After getting back, we still had time to go for a walk along the beach front and have a quick look around town, and even to the shopping centre by the port. One little tip – the port wifi reached into the ship, so on returning, I had a quick look at my emails, although we had taken advantage of free EU roaming earlier in the day. Read Less

Docked close to port exit. Short walk to main street where bus stops located in Parque de Santa Catalina. Caught local bus 1.40 euro to old town Vegueta 15 mins journey on Bus No.1 get off at Mercado (market) 1 storey red building. Beautiful old spanish town with narrow streets and picturesque houses and squares. Look for Christopher Columbus House and Santa Ana Cathedral and Old Theatre. Decided to walk back through new town rather than getting the bus as we had plenty of time. Long hot walk through shopping area although there were a few parks along the way. Once back to the port we walked through town to Canares Beach (10 mins) long stretch of sand with good promenade and sea side cafes. Read Less

Loved this little place. Wish we would have rented a car or taxi to take us a bit around the island. We took a short walk from the ship to the beach. Chased the waves, wandered, and had a nice snack before reboarding the ship.

Hop on and Hop off bus worked fine here. We did the included walking tour also, which we enjoyed. Saw the beautiful cathedral inside on our own. Did the Columbus House on our own also and found it very worthwhile.

Nice city but the main promenade is backed by a very busy dual carriageway and the historic part of the city is a few miles walk from the port.
