Blue Boat Cinque Terre and Captain Simone put on the very best day out. He'll collect you from the port and whisk you off on a fabulous day of food, music, wine, Lemoncello and the sights. It is the very best way to see the Cinque Terre and swim in the Med. If you have older children - do this - they will be talking about if for weeks as mine has. Read Less

Went to train station for ride and walk to Pisa. Then took a train to Florence and enjoyed walking around. Came back to port (long Florence train ride - be prepared).

Beautiful colorful buildings when you get into port, though becoming more industrial with a lot of containers around spoiling the view a bit.

We wanted to maximize our time in port so did not go to Florence or Pisa. Highly recommend Portovenere for the day via ferry.

Florence and Pisa – small private tour of 4 couples with Florence Connections. We left early and beat the crowds, it included a long drive but was well worth it. Sergio our guide was excellent and our tour included a professional guide for 3 hours in Florence. Once again we were able to access the centre of Florence which the big coaches were not able to thus saving us a 20 minute walk each way. I was a little concerned about the distance we were motoring in case we were late returning to the ship but as Sergio explained all tours follow the same road back to port so any hold up would be experienced by all coaches. We were back on board at exactly our requested time and over an hour before the ships tours that only toured Florence. Both Pisa and Florence were amazing and I can highly recommend them. Read Less

The hike was hard but spectacular. Lunch in Vernazza right on the water was amazing, followed by a boat ride back to La Spezia with each village more beautiful from the sea than the next. Read Less

We did the bot tour to three quaint seaside stops. Longish ride and some struggled with seasickness. But worth the trouble. These are post card stops to very old places built into steep rock inclines. We had a snack at one and wine at another. We climbed to a vineyard and sat with a woman with which we shared no language. Yet we somehow communicated and enjoyed our glass. Do this one. Read Less

Most cosf-effective way to visit Cinque Terre is to take a taxi from the port to the train station and buy the Cinque Terre Day Pass. Pay very close attention to ensure you get on the right train, but it is well worth it!

We booked RomeInLimo for a day trip to Florence - fantastic choice and I highly recommend this to everyone. I worked with Jany at RomeInLimo to put together this day trip from our cruise ship port of La Spezia and he was fantastic working with us in advance to schedule and book this trip. Our driver Fabrizio was fantastic, made the drive very enjoyable and tailored the day to our groups wants and desires. Based on the recommendation from @Jany-RomeInLimo, we booked skip the line tickets (very hard to get by the way due to the cruise ship season and tours booking up all the times!) and our driver timed the day to see the Santa Croce cathedral and other sites before Accademia were we saw the statue of David - a must see recommendation from me for a day in Florence. RomeInLimo was a fabulous choice - made from reading past reviews by other crusie travelers - for half the cost of the ship excurisions on buses, we got our personal van for my whole family and Fabrizio did a magnificent job of showing us as much as we wanted to see in one day. Do yourself a favor and book RomeInLimo on your next cruise to Italy to see the sights and avoid the cruise ship crowds. Read Less

We took a cab to Station Centrale and grabbed the all day train pass to Cinque Terre. We were going to take an excursion but the company we used across Italy said that they could only drive us to the first town and give us directions on the using the train and boats as cars can't enter the towns. It made more sense to take the train and save lots of money! We just went to the furthest town of Monterosso and worked out way back hopping on and off the train. We did choose to skip Corniglia due to the number of stairs up to it as it is not at sea level. We found Vernazza and Manorola to be the prettiest villages. These villages are not easy to walk in and have many many hills and stairs to ascend and descend but they are amazing to see. Read Less

Charming little town and the train station is an easy 25 minute walk. Once there you can purchase a 5 town train ticket -Cinque de terre- which also includes the price of the bus to access the sixth village. You will not have enough time to do it all with the amount of time allotted for this stop, even if you are first off the ship. So pick and choose and remember not to cut it too close coming back as the trains may be crowded and you may not get on. Read Less

Walked off the ship and into the centre of town (approx 25 mins) where we bought a family train ticket to Cinque Terre. There you can visit all five town on the rail line. We just did 4 which was enough, missing out the one in the middle as we were told there was a lot of steps to climb and we didn't want to rush visiting the other towns. We started at the furest away and made our way back. All were very pretty, but think my favourite was the first one, Monterosso, there after a walk along the beach, we turned back on ourselves and walked through a tunnel visiting some lovely shops in the old town. I think the train ticket in total for the 4 of us, was only around 50 euros... a bargin compared to many of the tours on offer. Plus we were able to spend as long or as little in each of the town, rather than being herded along as part of a larger group. Read Less
