We did the Pisa trip which started off with a drive through a nature reserve and then a boat trip into Pisa, which was lovely. We had enough time in Pisa and the cruise had organised for us to get water and use the toilets at a local restaurant. The guide was very knowledgeable and told us the history and pointed out interesting sights on the coach journey and while we were there. Read Less

We wanted to see both Pisa and Firense so rather than risk missing the ship we thought an excursion was safer. The tour guide was excellent, friendly and knowledgable. The stop in Pisa was only brief but since we only really wanted to see the tower and nearby areas, that was fine for us. If you wanted to go up the tower or inside any of the building you would probably have been struggling time wise. Firense (florence to us Brits) was gorgeous. We had a whole afternoon which was just long enough to get a good flavour of th eplace and to decide we need to retur to explore in more depth. Read Less

Excursion to Cinque Terre great view from boat of all villages - if you are thinking to spend time in certain village - have to do by train on your own, but watch on time to return to the ship.

Went to Pisa on a trip organised by Cunard. A wine tour followed which meant that we never had time to go inside the tower, catherdral or baptistry in Pisa. Disappointed. Vineyard had Sangiovese grapes which make really good wine, hic!

God, the CinqueTerre needs to be experienced by everyone, having been to Florence this was an easy decision and in my view a better choice.

Italian Beach tour was disappointing only because many of the shops were closed along the beach and this is what I wanted to do while the family went swimming. They love the beach and took great pictures.

Take the train and go early to stop at each village, cost is about $25 euros and worth it. A lot of hilly climbs, some shuttles but mostly walking ..the views are spectacular. My favorite port.

Great town with a nice harbour. You will need to take the free shuttle to the port entrance, from there it is all easy walking

We did an excursion to Pisa and Florence (independent with smart device). We very much enjoyed both sites but as usual, ended up waiting for a number of guests who were late back to the coach.

This trip was wine tasting in Tuscany this tour guild was terrible all she did was put the radio on in the bus explained nothing of what you were seeing on the hour ride and one site was Cabrera Marble site on the mountains that Michael Angelo used. The winery was not to bad but again no explanation of where they harvest no view except for the building where its made and a room for tasting. I can not blame the owner of vineyard his English was not good but the guild again said nothing. Read Less

We took the train to the Cinque Terre and did one of the longer hikes (Corniglia-Vernazzo), a ferry to Monterossa and then the train back. Although the scenery is stunning, we both liked the Amalfi Coast (on our prior cruise) better. There were simply way too many tourists on the few streets in each town. Way too crowded. Read Less

We did the Portofino, Rapallo and Santa Margarita. The guide struggled to express and repeated herself many times in between the sentence. She was a little too controlling which wasted a lot of time. Walk here. See here, wait here, lets go there, wait again, come back here at this time etc. I understand the concern but you are not dealing with kindergartners. When we have minimal time we want to make the most of it. Read Less

Portovenere and Monterosso al mare were our destinations. These beautiful coastal towns are filled with colour and quirky little shops. There are plenty of stores selling pesto, bread, olives and pasta so if you want to stock up on italian foods, these places are a good spot. I have to say I tried Spaghetti Ala Scarpara in Monterosso for the first time which is a dish local to these areas and it was the best tomato sauce I've had. Simple, yet astonishingly satisfying. We didn't have too much time after the meal to look around, however, it tends to be more of the same kind of streets, so whilst there aren't too many sights to see in town, it is nice to just walk around. Be warned, however, tourist season will see these towns absolutely packed. Read Less
