There were many tours available as we left the cruise terminal. For $50 we were on a full size bus with 13 other people for a tour of euphese. The guide was excellent! Very knowledgable. Although, listening to other guides as we toured the ruins I thought they were all very well informed. I was impressed with the professionalism of the guides there.. However, it seems they all end at a silk factory and tour of rug makers. Be warned, they are a very hard sell! Be firm and walk smartly or you may end up with an expensive, albeit gorgeous, hand made rug. All merchants were aggressively selling their wares and can be a bit overwhelming if you aren't firm. Lots of shops in the old town area but shop owners are very pushy. If you do not like that walk all along the promenade (left of the ship) to the new Marina. Great upscale shops, bars and restaurants

Both stops gave us a glimpse into the warmth and generousity of Turkish craftsmen. I spent more than anticipated, and learned a great deal about the respective craft and artistry at both stops.

Didn't take a shore excursion, just got off port side. People were very friendly and purchased some nice keepsakes.
