Bus takes you to different villages where you can spend one hour or more with coupons for snacks. Walk about at your own pace, have lunch, etc and then reboard a bus for the next village. Buses run every hour.

We booked our own excursion with a local operator to visit the Postjana Caves. This trip was amazing the caves are the largest in Europe. We all thoroughly enjoyed this experience. Be prepared and come dressed in warm clothing as year round it is 10degrees inside the cave. You can however hire warm cloaks for 3 euro per person to stay warm. You travel into the cave on a small train then you get to walk about 1 1/2 kms with a tour guide then return on the train again at the end. We got dropped back into town but it was raining on our return so we only stayed long enough to have lunch and then walked back a short 5-10 minute walk to the ship. Also it was a Sunday and hardly anything was open in town. So beware of this and take a tour for the day otherwise it would of been boring rainy day without anything to do if we had not booked our tour. Read Less

Day 3, Koper, Slovenia Off ship, into lift on dockside and you are in the town, 2 mins walk to the old town main square. Lovely clean place, worth going inside the old tower (3 euros) lots of metal steps to climb, about 50m, great views at the top. The buildings in this part are very old, loads of little alleyways with gift shops. Coffee is about 1 euro (stark contrast to Rome), plenty of places to stop. From the main square down some steps, turn left into another square with a fountain. Straight on and out via the old wall, you are now in a modern part of town. Turn right and follow down to marina, lovely spot, plenty of shops. There is a modern shopping centre here although we did not go in. Spent some time wandering the marina. Follow the road back towards ship and there is a family park with safe swimming area. Koper is really lovely but you will struggle to fill more than a couple of hours unless you venture further afield or have lunch. Read Less

Koper is fairly small and will only take a couple of hours to explore. We caught the local bus to Piran which is along the coast. Well worth it. Walk straight through the old town to the main road. The local buses are across the main road. €3.10 each. the journey takes 30 mins along the coast road - beautiful - through Isola, Portoroz and finishes at Piran. This used to be a fishing port but is now mainly a holiday resort with a nice harbour, narrow streets a large square. Walk up the Bell Tower €1 for lovely views of the whole town. Read Less

Very good, did our own exploring - Celebrity excursions too expensive and not worth the money. Also they charge you a fee from $12 to $15 per person just to bring you by coach to the destination advertised. If Celebrity have to dock in a different place to the stated and advertised destination then they should bring you there and not force you to take a taxi or their coach transport (or be honest about their actual destination). We made our own way by bus to Piran - very beautiful and all for 3 euros a person. The bus stop was only a short stroll away from the Port.

Great Town, Great Spot. Tried to get the on an off bus Tour, but we checked in a 10:00 and the next bus we could get on was at 12:00. If you can do this i would get off the ship, arrange a early Bus time and then get back on the ship for breakfast. We had a nice explore of Kopor, prices are pretty cheap compared to Italy. Then we got on the Bus and went to Piran! /Wow, what a pretty sea side village. We had a fresh fish lunch , that was truly memorable. If you can we had good luck with anything that had s Trip Advisor Rating, as this Restaurant did. Read Less
