On all our cruises we try to blend excursions with some exploring on our own and so we visited Kona on our own. Our first stop was the Royal Place. It was a good choice. The docents were friendly and helpful in our learning. We then walked around on our own doing some shopping, admiring the waterfront, and eating lunch. It was a great day. Everyone we met was friendly. I guess they understand how to spread "Aloha"! Read Less

We just wanted to shop at Hilo Hatties. It was a great surprise to find there was a shuttle at the pier. There was one for Wal-Mart too. It was great! lol Once we shopped, the shuttle took us back to the pier and we boarded PoA.

This is a must do first thing in the morning. Then walk round the beautiful town, have a cocktail looking over the sea. Ship should stay here for 2 days, not enough time here. Read Less

I had hoped to go parasailing but the winds were too high so I couldn't, so we went on the glass bottom boat. It was good, but we hoped it would be more colorful.
