Since the ship arrived in town, we decided to wander around on our own. Most of the town is rather poor, with limited tourist shopping. However, we found a very good restaurant (with free wifi!), and a legitimate Thai massage business. We lay on mats on the floor next to each other, got worked over by the masseuses, and were charged $7 per person for an hour. Read Less

Best bet -- 1 hour Thai massage for $7. No, I didn't leave out zeros. $7. Mediocre shopping in the port town. A nice restaurant about 3 blocks in with free wifi. Lovely beaches further afield.

Enjoyed Koh Samui, went to the waterfall, monkey show on how they remove coconuts, beaches, shopping. Great place to go for a facial, people very friendly.

Walking around an uninteresting Thai village. The usuall tourist shops as there are 10000 in Thailand. Nothing to see, nothing special. There was a beach, that was O.K.

Ko Samui is a lot like Phuket. You can get a driver for $40USD per couple to take you around the island for a day. Cheap massages right on the beach!

Since I live in Thailand, I have spent plenty of time on the Island. You should rent a motorbike and take a long ride around the outside border of the Island

We did our own thing here too. The ship tenders here and the walk along the jetty is a LONG way for someone with a mobility problem. They should offer shuttle bus for guests like us I think. I was exhausted by the time I got to the end of the jetty. Then we stopped at a café for coffee and WiFi then had a quick walk around town (Nathan) and then had a 90min massage :) Happy days!! We saw some markets had opened up on the foreshore which was great to peruse. Then the dreaded walk back. Read Less

As we were only in port for half a day we just had a walk around the little town and watched the fishing boats and fish market on the pier - it was very very hot.

On our own. Negotiated cab among 3 people and drove around the island for 4 hours. Very easy to do. Get wifi free right at the coffee shop at the end of the port dock. Buy a coke for $1 US.
