I'm glad this port was included on the itinerary, however the included tour DID NOT match the description and illustrations. While the illustration shows the Standing Stones of Sternness, the bus did not even stop there. We did stop at another set of stones, but were given just 20 minutes there, when the walk from the bus to the stones was at least 8 - 10 minutes. Very disappointing for those of us who are photographers. Read Less

Loved it the best of all stops. Took the WWII special excursion because of my husband and I had not expected to enjoy it as much as I did. Definitely worth doing that excursion.

We went of afternoon bus tour. Stopped at Scalloway where there is a tiny museum dedicated to the Shetland bus. Did not appreciate shopping opportunity at jewellery store.

We took Viking's "Yesnara to Skara Brae: A Coastal Walk" excursion. It was excellent; really a cross between a walk and a hike. After a 25 minute bus ride to Yesnara we began our trek along the cliffsides catching dramatic scenery and plentiful birdlife. We stopped at a couple of Neolithic sites to hear about archeologists' discoveries and theories of when the buildings were erected and who lived there. After 2 hours we arrived at Skara Brae, one of the oldest historic sites in Scotland dating back to 2500 B.C.E. The site was very interesting and included a recreation of one of the houses. We hopped back on the bus and heard a lot about life in the Orkney Islands and the people of Kirkwall. Read Less

also included tour took us into town to buy things for about 60 minutes and then finally to the outer area for the historic neolithic stone formations and had only 30 minutes. Not enough time

All the taxis were taken up and we thought we wouldn't get one but lucked out on one who had taken her son to school that morning. We had Mary show us around and she took us to all of the old neolithic sites. She also had great stories and information. She also took us to a place where they had two "sheep" pigs. Very fuzzy pigs that were big but still quite cute. Highly recommend finding Mary or her husband for a tour. Read Less

Our guide from Wildabout Orkney was top notch - Chris is an archaeologist who had wonderful things to share about Skara Brae and the Ring, Standing Stones, etc. Lovely tour - I'd take this one again.

This was are only excursion port and highly recommend others do the same. We booked privately with "About Orkney" and Pat did a fantastic job of providing a quality day in the Orkney Islands.

Explored the beautiful Orkney Island of Scotland. Tour included a walk thru the ancient stones at the Ring of Brodgar. Tour bused across the island past green rolling hills marked with stone property markings and sheep. Lots of sheep!

This was a very interesting place to visit. We did our own thing with hiring a Craigie's taxi to take us around. We were able to go places and see things that we wouldn't have been able to do with a shore excursion, however, as pleasant and polite as the taxi cab driver was, he was no tour guide so there wasn't too much information presented on where we were going and what we were seeing although, everywhere we went, there were interpretive signs so all was good. We ended our tour at the Highland Distillery which is a really cool distillery to see and then walked into town to St. Magnus Cathedral. There is a free shuttle bus from the tourist information centre to get back to the ship. Read Less
