Key West was our favorite port during our cruise and we look forward to returning. We used the Duval Loop bus to get to the Hemmingway House. While this is a free service, the bus driver was very rude and we would not use this service in the future. The Hemmingway House was one of the highlights of our trip. Their collection of historical materials was excellent and you could fell the history dripping off the walls of the house. The cats were an exhibit all of their own. They were friendly and many liked to be pet. They were very well cared for, had plenty of access to food, water and shelter and seemed incredibly happy there. They also had a staff member dedicated to socializing the younger cats. We spent 2 hours here and would definitely go back. We couldn't find the stops for the Duval Loop bus due to the signs being so small, so we walked about a mile to Key Lime Pie Co. We enjoyed the key lime pie very much but found the service to be poor. After, we walked to Duval street and stopped at Sloppy Joe's. There we got a pint of beer for $6.50, which we thought to be a decent price. Our waitress was wonderful and the entertainment was pretty good! All the tourists we met in Key West were very friendly and talkative. We had a wonderful time. Read Less

Arrival in Key West was on time, but we were delayed getting off the ship due to a medical emergency. Sadly, this was the second medical emergency as someone was removed from the ship in Tampa as well. The sky was clear and the temperature was in the mid 70s. Our parasailing excursion was cancelled due to high winds, so we walked the town and went to Fort Zackary Taylor. Very cool place! I recommend it both for the beach and the historic fort. One shout out to RCI on the Parasailing. The winds were 20+ mph. This is higher than the recommended speed for parasailing. However, the excursion company was still taking people out. Personally, I really appreciate RCI being careful and cancelling. Read Less

Key West is MUCH more interesting after Noon. We went to Blue Heaven and had Key Lime Pie because Kermit's is marketed garbage candy. The free bus is GREAT and I encourage you to use it.

Note that if you get stuck docking at the Navy pier, you have to take a trolley into town. I don't know if our ship always gets the We had visited Key West before, so we did not take a guided tour. We did go to Mel Fisher's Treasure Museum, which is an easy walk from the ship. Admission is $15 but the exhibits are interesting and well-done. Be sure to take the time to wander a bit out of the tourist area, down one of the residential streets, to get a feel for the graceful Southern air the town has. Also look for the free-roaming roosters around the historic marina ! Read Less

Key West is wonderful just for walking around and taking in the sites. We have been before, so we knew that we wanted to see the Hemingway House again; I love the gardens and of course the cats there. We did a little shopping there and at the Audubon House gift shop. Unfortunately I fell down on their very uneven sidewalks, so I was shaken up and had a skinned knee, which cut our fun short. Read Less
