We took a cab to Dr. Cave Beach early in the morning. Rented chairs and an umbrella. Had a great time until lunch time and it than got so packed that people put their chairs in front of my chair (not a gap at all it was touching.) It became so hot though that at noon we called it quits and went back to the ship. The beach was so packed you couldn't even walk. The bathrooms were pretty grungy too. No toilet paper. Thank goodness I had Kleenex. We were only their till 3pm or I would have gone to the all inclusive for a day. I recommend doing that over Dr cave beach if you have the time. If there's more than one cruise ship in port it's just not worth it. Read Less

Grand Turk was great! Walked right off the ship and was at the beach in 5 minutes. No charge for beach chairs. Beautiful water.

If you get off at this port, you have to do an excursion. There is a small amount of dingy shops in the building they let you off in. There is barbed wire fences all around the port area. Nothing to do there unless you book an excursion.

Only accessed the Internet here at a small restaurant. Fee was only $3.00 for unlimited access! On the ship it can be as much as $0.75 per minute.

Try to have a plan prior to arriving in Montego Bay. We wasted about 2 hours of our port experience. We had planned on going on our own to "just find a nice beach and enjoy the sand and surf. Being unfamiliar with Jamaica, We were discouraged from going to a beach that was recommended by a crew member by port security, stating that there was a lot of "bandits" there. We ended up getting on a bus with 20 other people and a bus driver that wanted to drop all of us off at a single destination. Trying to get 20 strangers to agree on one thing was next to impossible. Some wanted to go to the beach, some wanted to go shopping and others wanted to go sight seeing. The bus driver wanted to take us to where he was going to get the best kick back $$$. We ended up at Doctors Cove Beach. Once there, we had a great time. Nice beach, nice restaurant and a decent price. About $8.00 per person plus an additional $8.00 for chairs and umbrella. The Food was Awesome ! Definitely would go there again, With a different bus driver. Read Less

We've been to "Mo' bay" several times. The minus on this time was that since the Magic is a bigger ship it got the mooring close to the pier whilst the Conquest moored in the industrial area. we had to wait for buses to shuttle us to the main part..which was a terrible mess, no organisation and people were unhappy and fairly rude. If you end up over on the industrial side be prepared for a long time waiting on a shuttle. best idea if you don't have an excursion, watch for all the lines to go down THEN get off ship and catch shuttle=-) Read Less

It was a great experience in Montego Bay. I came to the island understanding the country is a 3rd world country but had an open mind to seeing a new culture. People are friendly but are pushy when it comes to buying their items.

Took in the town, the beach and lunch at Scotchies. Liked Jamaica, but not nearly as much as Grand Cayman and Cozumel. Would go again though.

first we went to montego bay, jamaica not what i expected. we paid $19 a person for a hop on hop off bus tour that we found when getting off the boat it took us shopping, to the beach (that was an extra charge to access the beach $7 per person), and to the market place where the locals harass you into buying stuff from them. i did not like jamaica!!!! we saw people living in tents on the side of the road a guy was selling drugs to people as they waited for a stop light. it was very dirty. the only plus was the snorkeling was amazing i saw so many fish and coral reefs right off the beach. i give it a 3 because of the snorkeling. i brought my own gear but you could rent some also Read Less

Jamaica was very nice. My friends got seperated from my family and ended up on a bad beach. We went to Doctor's Cave, I highly recommend that. The islanders are like vultures though!

VERY NICE PORT with great shopping opportunities. Clean private beach. This port was my shopping day and I decided to not take an excursion and stay local in the court to get shopping done. There are many reasonable shops and the area is very nice and inviting. There is a separate beach where you can rent canoes, kayaks, swim or just soak up the sun. There is a FAT TUESDAYS in the court area and also a place to have your passports stamped. A small donation is asked with the stamps to assist with upkeep of the area and it appears to be put to good use so far. I enjoyed this stop and if I return will do an excursion as I heard many good things from others. Next time I will do an excursion here. Read Less

My family went to Doctors Cave and it was amazing! It was so clean and had everything you would need! The drinks were reasonable as well I think only 6 dollars per frozen drink! I highly recommend the sand smile. Sooooooo good! After spending a few hours on the beach we went and ate in the restaurant called the Sand Bar, it's right on the beach. My mom, dad, boyfriend and I ate a local favorite Jerked chicken and it was to die for!!! My 13 year old brother got the cheeseburger and fries and he said it was delicious as well! This beach is gorgeous! There are people from the restaurant who walk around the beach and take orders without pressure and deliver your food/drinks right up to you! The only negative was that there were some locals trying to sale seashells, produce, handmade trinkets. etc. but I felt no pressure. I loved Doctos Cave and Highly reccomend it!!!! Read Less

We hired a local, private driver through a friend prior to our cruise. He drove us anywhere that we wanted to go for the day. We started out at Richmond Hill where you can see the ship in the bay with beautiful scenery. Rose Hall is a must-stop if you've never toured the mansion. We also visited a primary school...my daughter and I are in education. That was a treat for us! On previous visits to Jamaica, we've gone on the river rafting on bamboo rafts...FUN! Jamaica is one of my favorite ports, but you have to get away from downtown. It has some beautiful beaches and waterfalls. Read Less

We didn't realize that some "excursions" consisted of renting a cabana on the beach, which we probably would have signed up for it. But, we got off the boat easily enough, and found a group of cushioned lounge chairs on the beach all together in partial shade/sun with no problem. I could see that people coming later did not get a good choose of chairs, however. Servers with menus were constantly walking by - we ordered small frozen drinks from Fat Tuesday which were $7.00, a decent enough value, I thought. Water was warm, although there was a ton of sea grass floating in it. Shopped afterwards at their touristy stores - I thought there was a good selection, reasonably priced, and actually picked up some gifts for others (and silver jewelry for myself). Nice relaxing day. We arrived Wednesday morning in Montego Bay had some breakfast and got of the ship with no planned shore excursion. We decided to take a bus into the hip strip and hang out at Margaritaville. We picked up a bus into town which was cost about 15 dollars for 4 of us. From the ship Jamaica looks beautiful but from a bus its anything but beautiful. We made it to the hip strip which is supposed to be a block of bars, restaurants and shopping. Once we arrived we quickly realized all the stores have the same Jamaican crap for sale and the store owners are a bit pushy oh and everyone seems to be selling marijuana there. We arrived at the first bar and where the only ones there, we had a couple red strip lights and took off. We walked down Margaritaville which was packed full of people so we hung out there and a bucket of beer and ate some food. The waiter was excellent and the food was good. We meant a bunch of people from the ship and a few people from the royal Caribbean ship. We caught a cab from there and went back to the ship about 3 hours before the departure time. My personal opinion of Jamaica is poor, Its exactly like Mexico very poor run down and dirty. I don't plan on returning to Jamaica ever again unless its in another port. Read Less
