Not a holiday desination. We took the local bus to Inverness which was nice. Everywhere else too far to go.

Bummer - ship turned back within sight f port, due to concerns over high winds. Not sure why this was a port of call anyway - the short stop would only have allowed for some sightseeing in the city, not the highlands.

If you have never been to Loch Ness, then I would go there, but with your expectations that you will not see Nessie! LOL. The castle is on the lake and is in ruins but does offer some scenic photo ops.

Invergordon, UK: We had planned to go into Inverness but there wasn’t anything that DW wanted to see so we stayed in Invergordon. It was bitterly cold and windy but we managed to buy a couple of pairs of leather thinsulate gloves at the dollar store for $7gbp each. The winds were 20+ kms a hour so we headed back to the ship after visiting the cathedral and seeing the town murals. This is a stop that I would consider a tour or head into Inverness. Read Less

I hired a taxi to take me into the Scottish Highlands. It was fairly expensive but worth it to me. Went to Atholl and toured Blair Castle. It was fully furnished as if the Earl had left only yesterday and the docents were wonderful. The grounds and gardens were beautiful and the Castle itself (because if was fully furnished, including the clothes, was amazing. I've seen a lot of castles but nothing like this. Read Less

They tell you to go on a tour because there is nothing in the port. Don't believe them. We walked off the ship and had a great time. It was not crowded. The people were friendly. The food was great. The shopping was very good.

A short stroll from the ship brought us to this charming small Scottish Town, which had basic amenities such as small shops, public WCs and cafes. Well worth a visit.

Took a taxi to Loch Ness and did the Loch Ness Experience and was pleasantly surprised. It was very well presented and basically gave a history of the research into the likelihood (it isn't likely) that the monster exists. each port was great but because of the size of the ship, we didn't get anywhere near close enough to feel comfortable hopping on and off.
