We booked a personal tour walking through Laura at Hello Hong Kong (bookings@hellohongkong.com.hk). Prices are clearly stated on their site. Niya was our guide and was absolutely excellent. No doubt other tours are cheaper, but if you have already paid thousands of pounds and travelled a huge distance and only have 1 day in Hong Kong, it's a false economy to not get the best tour you possibly can. We went to Ocean Park independently as we had been to Hong Kong before... what a shocking experience... we had to queue for almost 2 hours in extremely hot conditions and then once inside we had to queue for more than an hour to go on the cable car. No seniors discount for any other than Hong Kong residents. To make matters worse once we got to the counter we presented a tourist booklet we had been given at the port for a 10% discount and Ocean Park wanted us to stand aside as it seemed news to them. So another 2O minutes wait for 7 people of whom most were in their 70's and/or had some mobility issues. Once we got to the entry gate they demanded tickets which we had not been given and wanted us to go back to the ticket box. We were treated abominably by Ocean Park. Our advice is give it a big miss. Just like at the airport they sense your temperature when you pass through a scanner. If you have a fever they stop you. At the port- Tai Chek - you will find a new cruise ship facility. Efficient workers. Downtown location but not walkable to the town. Continuous Free shuttle buses from/to Cruise port to/from MTR Diamond Hill stop /Hollywood shopping mall area. Takes about 20 minutes. Metro signs are also in English, plus the lines are by color. From there we purchased the Octopus cards for the MTR/metro. Each adult and child needs a separate card. Cost for the card alone was $50HKD each (Adult and child the same), plus charging the cards was $100HKD adults and $20HKD for a child. Child fares are less which I assume is why they charge the child's card with fewer funds. We then used these cards to simplify our metro travel. You can turn the cards in for a refund when you are finished traveling. You can also turn the cards in at the airport to refund your balance on the card. We went to Disney from Diamond hill stop, which took 4 connections but it was very easy and fast. Don't be intimidated you can do it. Locals even helped us in the beginning. Disney metro exit, in our opinion, is a short walk to Disney entrance. They will allow backpacks, and we also had snacks and water in them. No problem. I saw someone who brought rolling luggage the size of a carryon. Bring water as in the summer you will need it. The next day in Hong Kong my wife and I went back into the Nathan Street area to shop, and again the Octopus cards simplified the MTR experience. Read Less

Having an overnight stay allowed us to visit many parts of Hong Kong which is fairly easy to get around by taxi or the subway The costs are very reasonable especially comparing it to the costs of taxis and public transport in Australia. We used the courtesy buses on offer from 2 of the major department stores to get to the centre of the city and ventured out from there. Plenty to see and do along the waterfront and we stayed after dark for the light show between the buildings on both sides of the river. My wife loved this port as it was another great place to shop at reasonable prices. Read Less

We only had a couple of days in Hong Kong, and as I hadn't been there for a long time, we arranged a 1/2 day tour for the first day, this was great, then went to the Ladies Market at night time - a must but remember to barter. Next day, we caught the subway to the harbour and took the ferry across, we then took the bus to Stanley Market, very easy to travel, we bought an Octopus Card, and found it very easy to use public transport. Stanley Markets was a great place to shop, not as many people and quality of goods very high, Also on the water, so it was a great place for lunch. Afterwards,we went back by bus, then took the tram up to the peak. There was a long wait. We looked at the shops and had dinner up at the peak watching Hong Kong come alive at night. Again a long wait to come down by tram, then ferry and train home. Next day a quick taxi ride to the port - cheaper than the cost of transfers. Read Less

The berth's new terminal is a maze and a long walking tour in itself. It needs some personal touches and rethinking. Mobility impaired people would find it a nightmare. We did our own thing for the two days, and enjoyed the city.
