We explored ourselves and met some locals! Friendly people. Had a blast and felt safe the entire time. Beaches were about 30 min away.

Havanna was very dirty, very crowded, and was obviously extremely impoverished and in need of major repairs to almost all structures. The sidewalks were impossible for someone with disabilities to navigate.

Havana has been a dream of mine, and so despite that challenges that come with visiting here (OFAC paperwork, customs, exchanging money), I still had a wonderful time. We did a private food tour excursion that was OFAC certified - it was wonderful. The city is such an amazing mix of old and new, of run-down and refurbished, but there is a certain beauty there. The people are wonderful and very happy to see American tourists. Read Less

Great chance for a short trip to get a taste of Cuba. Took a private walking tour, really enjoyed it. Learned a lot about how communism is put into practice in Cuba. Locals are genuinely really friendly and seem to love to talk to internationals (and not people try to sell you anything, just friendly around town), learned a lot from people this way in only a day. Really interesting. Plan to siesta from the heat mid day with a drink and cool rest in some shady courtyard or fancy hotel. Read Less

We paid for a private tour in an old convertible through Fertours which was highly recommended on trip advisor. It satisfies the people to people visitation requirement on the Visa.

We had a private guide and driver who picked us up in a 52" Chevy convertible. Our tour guide, Amado was FABULOUS! Please contact me for his info. Very reasonable, professional and knowledgeable. Havana is a city still living in 1950's with little to no updating. The Cubans are friendly and seem very happy with the political system. Read Less

We hired a private guide who provided us a ride in one of the old cars along with his walking tour. We felt that he included everything we wanted to see, and took us to a private restaurant . It seemed like we walked from one end of Havana to the other. Wear comfortable shoes, as the streets are old cobblestone and have many potholes! We did the hop on hop off bus trip for 10 cuc per person. It was 2 hours long on a double decker bus and of course we sat on top at the back for picture taking. It was so hot so we didn’t get off at all but stayed on the whole time and saw the sites.love driving by the old cars and then seeing the new and old buildings. The old buildings are so interesting but dirty from all the pollution the ones that are still standing and then you see the ones that are falling down and people are still living in them and it makes you thankful for what you have. We stopped at revolution square and that was also very interesting. We drove along the ocean and saw fishermen in their little fishing boats catching the fish and then across the road the big hotels for vacationeers. It’s had to tell everything we saw but it was a real eye opener . Read Less

We were in Havana on an overnight stop on our cruise. We chose FerTours based on the fantastic reviews and we were not disappointed! Fernando was a great help in answering all my questions leading up to our trip. We had not been to Cuba before and wanted to make sure all of our documents were in order so we would have no unexpected problems. We preferred to work with a local rather than just booking an excursion through our ship. Alex was a wonderful guide. He was very knowledgeable about the history of the country. He helped us to create a personalized tour that worked perfectly for our family. We were not sure what we wanted to see or do but he led the way and when we wanted to learn more or take a break he was very gracious and had wonderful suggestions for food and refreshments. We spent the entire day and much of the evening with Alex as our guide. We were impressed with the charm and beauty of the city and with the people that we met along the way. Keep in mind that many of the streets are cobblestone -wear comfortable shoes. https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g147271-d7986028-r570437307-Fertours_2_Havana-Havana_Ciudad_de_la_Habana_Province_Cuba.html# Read Less
