I love small town Haines. Friendly greeting, free shuttle bus into town from the Port. Walked past Fort Seward 1 mile to Mud Bay. Car rentals are an option also. Don't miss the Brewery..half a block from the shuttle stop. 5 ounce tasters are $2-$3. ...

We rented a car through Avis (outback) and did a road trip to Haines Junction, Yukon, Canada. We stopped at the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve, Mile Roadhouse for cookies and sandwiches, and the Million Dollar falls campground. We also went to Chilkoot State Park, which had a beautiful lake and a salmon ladder (it's a good place to see bears although we were not so lucky). The views from the road ...
