Review for Norwegian Encore to Alaska

If you have the chance to cruise Glacier Bay, don't miss it. Only one ship a day is allowed to cruise Glacier Bay, so most cruises to Alaska do not have the opportunity to enter the park. You will get great views of several glaciers, and learn about the advance and retreat of glaciers that is happening. (yes some are advancing). We were blessed with perfect weather the day we were there, but ...

Surprisingly, our October 5 visit to the Glacier had absolutely perfect viewing conditions - brilliant sunshine, not a cloud in the sky, no wind. Unbelievable, although it was 38 degrees. I know people have complained giant ships don't get as close to the glaciers as small ships which I assume is dependent on conditions like wind and fog - I felt we were as close as any of my previous Alaska ...

Get here before long as it might not look the same in the future. Park Service Rangers board the ship and narrate the story of what you're experiencing as the ship does a 360 and everyone gets to see the full bay. Awesome. ...

We love seeing the glaciers and how much they are receding. This year there were 3x the sea otters in groups, so cool. We also seen a bear, mt. goats, seals and whales. One year seen wolves. Don't forget binoculars (his and hers) or you have to share. Didn't get to close to Margerie glacier which was disappointing but there was to much ice in the water for the ship to rotate, maybe next ...

Glacier Bay is a national treasure. I loved that the National Park Service rangers come on the ship to guide us through our day in the park. We had good view of Margerie Glacier for more than an hour. I had time to view it from different levels. The ship did not spend as much time at Lamplugh or Johns Hopkins Glaciers. The scenery coming into the bay and leaving is spectacular. We saw a bit of ...
