We did an independent excursion to a family farm and cheese making site far up in the mountains and inland. It was nice to take a break from the water and see some countryside. We dud stop to see the seven sisters falls from a lookout point, and the ship also did a special 360 degree turn that night so we coukd see it up close from below. Beautiful! Read Less

Absolutely stunning. Highlight of the trip. Found the ship excursions to be very overpriced when there were far chaper and better options on shore. The local economy is geared to tourists from the cruise ships. They know exactly when you arrive/depart and will make sure you are back on board. We did the City Bus trip up the mountainside for panoramic views of the Fjord. We hopped off at the Norsk Fjordsenter. Excellent museum showing how men lived in the harsh fjord landscapes through the ages. Wonderful theatre presentation of photos taking through the seasons. Walked down the Cascade trail from the Museum back to the ship. Stunning waterfalls all the way down. Read Less

Lovely setting with great views. We opted for a locally offered trip to two vantage points, one either side of the town. We then came back to Geiranger and walked up the side of the waterfall.

Very beautiful view of several high falls. The 2-hour tour was not long enough for us though.

We thoroughly enjoyed going up the 300+ steps of the well-built, modern stairway that runs alongside the wonderful waterfall that roars down through the village.

Loved this city and walked from the ship up past the waterfall in town all the way up to the farm and the viewpoint down into the fjord. Epic city if you are ready to hike!

Great hiking and viewing locations. The waterfalls are wonderful. Last year we crusied there and did the Kayak excursion. It was almost double the price on the boat, that you could get by booking it yourself.

We took the water taxi from the ship to the shore and then walked around the little town. We then took the energetic walk up the steps and platforms at the side of the most amazing waterfall. The water was thundering down the mountain and the whole experience was fabulous. We walked to the very top where the views were lovely. We walked back down at the side of the winding road but unfortunately there isn’t a pavement. We called in at the little church and admired the beautifully tendered graveyard. We enjoyed a delicious ice cream before returning by the tender to the ship. Read Less

This is a must-see. A stunning fjord, quaint little tourist shops down by the water, but to the right of the village is the Waterfall Walk. You can't see the waterfall from the village, but if you walk around to the right, there is this huge torrent pouring right through town and a nice staircase to the right of it. Very powerful and close. At the top of the stairs is an excellent museum about the fjords, the FjordCenter. This is one of the best and most well done small museums I've ever see- a hidden gem. The walk back down past the little church is quite picturesque as well. We loved Geiranger! Read Less

Had a private tour up Eagle Road, Queen's chair and several stops along the way. Nice walk through the town when we got back - definitely walk along the waterfall if you have a chance. Great chocolate shop.

The tendering process was just too inefficient, inorganized...it took us 2 hours to wait for our tender....with so many passengers, the port can only accomodate 2 tendering boats at a time, and only six tendering boats were utilized....
