79 Fuerte Amador (Balboa) Cruise Reviews

We went on the Monkey and Wildlife Nature Cruise. Tour guide was very knowledgeable, we saw three monkey species and a lot of fauna. The trip back was alongside the canal and we had a great view of several ships traversing the canal.

Panama City is most unlikey with its mix of very modern skyscarpers, the original colony and the old town which was gorgeous.

Here we took a ships excursion to the Embera Village. This was an amazing highlight for me! Imagine stepping back in time to a pristine river with a village of people from 100s( or maybe 1000s ) of years ago! This was NOT a Disney production but a reall life picture of another culture , another lifestyle that is disappearing! We ate, danced, learned about food and life and shopped for gorgeous handmade goods! I HIGHLY recommend this experience to anyone who wants to learn about a way to live outside of modern life! Took the tour of the Locks, and overview of the old city. The locks were interesting, but they spend too much time in the old city. Would have preferred to spend som time in modern Panama City.

We enjoyed see a little of Panama while traveling on bus to Agua Clara. The second stop was at a museum and movie that gave a very good overview of the history/construction of the Panama Canal.

This tour gave us a good feel of the city. We also visited Old Town Panama and made some stops. Our tour guide was excellent and gave us lots of knowledge about the city.

You definitely can tell that Panama has a lot more money that Cartagena has, as this tender port was beautiful and very clean. The landscapiing and new parks, family picnicing and walking areas were so nice. Our tour consisted of a visit to the Mira Flores Locks Visitor Center which is really well done. We enjoyed the Museum part of this tour very much. We then continued on to the second portion of the tour which was a visit to the Old City of Panama. The buildings in this walled city have been beautifully restored. If you go, notice all of the varied styles of Wrought Iron. Reminds me so much of New Orleans, LA or Savannah, GA. Read Less

The tour description changed after we were on the ship (we were notified by a paper left in the cabin), so the tour ended up with a lot less walking and a lot more time on the bus, but I enjoyed the trip. We had a 1.5 hour walking tour of the colonial area. The guide walked fast and the sidewalks aren't great so this isn't a good tour for those with walking difficulties. Then we had a nice drive past the fish market, the ruins of the pre-colonial city, the new city skyscrapers, the fenced edge of the canal zone, and the outside of the Gehri museum. The bus was completely full, so people traveling alone had to share seats. Good tour but would be nicer with fewer people on the bus. The only bathroom possibility that I noticed was at the church. We had planned to visit Our Pueblecito museum which we read about on trip advisor. When we went to the taxi stand, the man called over another driver who said he would take us for $20USD. I knew it wasn't far and said it was too much. He argued and stuck to his price. My husband said we shouldn't waste time and just go. We went. It wasn't far, although the traffic was bad. We enjoyed the tour, but it contained similar things to what we have in our historical museums. The setting was lovely. There was a taxi in the parking lot. That driver said he would take us back for $6USD. I knew the first guy was ripping us off. Read Less

We liked the Panama anchorage and I had a terrific private guide with probably one of the most experienced birding guides in the country. Friendly, helpful people.
