Went to Port Lucaya. BORING,DEAD All of the water activities were closed due to water conditions. The best thing that happened to us here is we went to rum runners bar and ordered drinks and they were excellent!!

Freeport was nothing exciting. We took a cab ($5/pp in a van)Z to the main shopping area. There was some right at the port, but the one across town is better. There are bars and restaurants mixed right in. Had a great drink, good wings (ask for them with sauce on them!) and great bartender service at Rum Runners. Met lots of fellow vacationers. Walked across the street to the Radisson grounds and cut through to hit the beach. It was a beautifully clean beach area. If you wanted, you could lounge there for the day outside of the Radisson "service" area for no charge. Sat on the steps and watched some parasailing, etc. Asked a cabbie to take us to the brewery. He asked if we wanted samples, and we said yes. He then took us to a liquor store where they gave samples of liquor. Pretty sure he had an agreement with this store to bring tourists there. Then we went to the brewery, which wasn't doing much. Had a store, looked around and bought some shirts. Then went back to ths ship. Not a long cab ride, but it was VERY expensive ($60 for four of us). We felt taken. Read Less

I wasn't too fond of the Freeport excursion to Garden of the Groves and City Tour. If you aren't into plants and trees you may not like it either. There also wasn't much to see in the city along the way.

We did not go on an excursion at this port. We instead chose to take a shuttle into town. The cost is $5.00 pp, each way. Very easy, just walk towards the line of vans and you will get one in an instant. The town is as many others have described it, not a lot to see or do. We walked around, had a quick beer and then noticed that across the street were two large hotels. Had I researched it better, we would have brought our bathing suits/towels as the beach access was very public, right from the sidewalk, no fees. It seemed like a nice beach and it was not very crowded. My husband was told by another passenger they went on a snorkeling excursion at this port and were very pleased. The shopping is a bust, plan on getting your souvenirs in Nassau at Banana Bay, a great shop with something for everyone and prices in line with what you would expect. Of course we did visit the Harley shop for my husbands sake, but they had nothing much to offer. Again, if I were offer advice, either go on an excursion or head to the beach. (but I'm sure we won't be going to these ports again in the future) Read Less

Stay on the boat....the beaches are bordered by hotels and people are trying to solicit you with junk the entire time.

How I wish there was a way to rate this dump a zero! Other reviews have described this industrial area very well. I'll just add that I'd rather have docked in the Port of Elizabeth... Elizabeth, New Jersey!!! At least we could have taken a cab from the oil refineries to New York and had a great time there! Here, about the only place to go was the highly touted and supremely over-rated Lukaya straw market. That can best be described as about 100 tiny vestibules standing side by side, all containing the same, tired, overpriced, tourist CRAPOLLA!!! The only thing different from vendor to vendor were the vendors themselves. Save yourself some time: Choose one vendor, buy whatever piece of junk you want, and head back to the ship. Again: WHAT A DUMP!!! Read Less

We didn't realize the ship was docking outside of the real town. It docked where there were a few local vendors and that was it. There wasn't any type of entertainment or anything available.

Nice lunch. Last port was Nassau. Lots to do there. Excursion are very expensive. I tookk the water taxi to Paradise Island and walked to Atlantis. You can take the hotel shuttle over to Dolphin Cay where I watched the dolphins for a cople of hours. Took the water taxi back and wandered downtown for awhile before returning to the ship. Read Less

We had scheduled a glass-bottomed boat tour in Freeport, but were informed that morning it would be cancelled due to rough seas. It was kind of chaotic trying to re-book another tour, but after talking to the Carnival rep we decided to book an Island Tour of Freeport which would take place on a bus. I explained my husband had mobility issues and was told there would not be alot of walking. This tour was a complete waste of money. We had maybe a 2 hour tour of the island, which really doesn't have a lot to see. Our driver mostly drove us through neighborhoods pointing out celeb's houses. We were then dropped off at Our Lucaya for more shopping, but at this point I was done shopping. Read Less

That was a waste of money.. nothing much there; however, the beach was very close and there was not very many vendors who harrassed you while on the beach. As for the shopping - everything you see where the ship docks is what you see in town.   Read Less

We discovered that the only way to get into Freeport is to pay for a taxi or shuttle to a particular destination. Because it was a cloudy start to the day, we decided it was too cool to snorkel so decided not to go on that particular excursion. And if we could have taken an inexpensive bus to see the area, we would have, but there are no public buses that come to the port. So we only walked around the multiple small shops next to the port where the same Chinese made beach attire, jewelry, and trinkets are sold. There is very very little that is made in the Bahamas although we recommend finding a Kalik beer and Goombay Punch soda for the kiddies as something Bahamian made. We spent our day on the ship. It's a Ghetto! There is nothing there but closed factory's,shipping containers, and oil tanks. I can't believe that a ship would dock in Freeport since it's nothing but a commercial shipping port. What a dirty place!
