I hate to give it a "1" - it did not rank that high. Be prepared for a 30 minute Taxi ride that you pay $10-$15 dollars for, round trip - to see anything worthwhile. People were polite, but Nassau is a much better experience.

This port was a true waste of time.  As all the tour books note, the Lucaya area is a 20-30 minute taxi ride from the port.   The market is mostly stores with typical touristy t-shirts and shot glasses with some diamond stores mixed in.   There are several places to book short boat cruises from the Lucaya market.  I would recommend making your own excursion out of this and booking something here or just skipping the port completely and staying on the ship.   Just walking around the marketplace isn't nearly entertaining enough to be worth the long commute from the port.  Better to just save your money for Nassau where you can walk from your ship to Bay Street and save the $25 one-way taxi fare.  Read Less

Very disappointing. Nothing more than a refueling stop. At least on our trip. There wasn't enough time to do anything. We arrived at 8 am and had to reboard the ship at 11.30.

Another port with almost nothing. There is a Straw Market at the port with souvenirs and clothing, but that's it. Nothing but cranes and large cargo ships. Your only option is to book expensive shore excursions. Our time in Freeport was short (5 hours). I did not see the point in shelling out a lot money for a quick trip across the island. Read Less

Yuck! I think we went there to fuel up! This port was awful! The biggest disappointment was the lack of time at the port... about four hours so you couldn't really spend time investigating Great Bahama Island to any extent. So we opted on a one way $15 taxi ride to a hotel to sit on the beach for an hour and a half and play in the sand with the kids. Again, warm enough to tan, but surf too rough and too cold to go in the water. Be Careful to remember that taxi pricing is group pricing. If you make a mistake and miss your taxi, you could pay $30 or more for an 11 mile trip back to the ship. Be warned! Luckily we were with our group! Freeport was a sad way to end the cruise. Sort of disappointing. I wish we had done this up front. Great Stirrup Cay was the best day of the cruise. You sort of want your best experiences toward the end. Read Less

Only my wife got off the ship and you have seen how she was ripped off at Columbian Emeralds.
