Nothing worth getting off the boat for as far as we were concerned though we did take a tour to Lacaya which again wasn't very impressive. (perhaps due to the Hurricane)

The ship was supposed to call over the 1MC for all excursions. They didn't everyone got off the ship and you had to find the excursion group you were supposed to be on. We were supposed to do the luxury sail. That was cancelled, ship offered 2 others for half price, but did not let anyone know that the times for the excursion also change. So after waiting 30 to 40 minutes we asked for our refund. I think the other people finally left after about 45 minutes to an hour later. Read Less

As we just wanted to do a little shopping, we were told Lacaya would be the better choice. After being jammed into the taxi for about 20 minutes (and no AC), we found the overpriced duty free shops and the straw market full of items found in most flea markets in the states. There are no quaint local shops to wander. Had some cold drinks, and grabbed a taxi back to the ship with other like-minded travelers. Read Less

This place is so gross and dirty it shouldn't be a port. Freeport is an industrial yard that smells like gasoline from the refinery. The water is just not pretty on Grand Bahama. This port looks like a bunch of coal power plants by the ocean. Tourists really have no business going to this island. It is very disappointing that Carnival would take guests here. We did an excursion at this port. Read Less

When we docked at Freeport, my husband and I thought we were back in the Navy. This looked more like an industrial port than a cruise port. We haven't been to this port before so we decided to give it a chance and go ashore. Bad decision. Senor Frogs was disgusting and servers were rude. The street was filthy and bees were everywhere because of all the trash. Mostly, it was the ship's crew eating, drinking and smoking. We stayed for about 30 minutes (I had a delicious pina colada). the security guard at the port didn't even look at our cards and ID's. Terrible port. Read Less

Horrible industrial port. Carnival has done a lot to build up the little "shopping city" outside the port so you don't have to spend a fortune to get to the other side of the island to do anything. This is a total waste of time visiting this port, I wish they would find somewhere else to go (think private island) instead of this waste of time. Read Less
