Unfortunately the area is still trying to recover from hurricane damage. We had planned to visit the Hotel/Casino but it was still closed.

We stayed in a straw market and it was cool chatting with the locals. There was a bar that stayed open late just to sing and dance with all of us as we were pulling away. It was a good experience but we didn't feel there was much to do. We got beers, mixed drinks in coconuts and conch critters. All of it was great. The locals were wonderful but I don't think I would want to go back to Freeport. Read Less

It is quite a trip from the cruise port to all of the attractions. If you get car sick beware because they pack you in the vehicles and drive like race car drivers. Drivers are nice.

Just a small circle of shops, didn't feel like we had enough time to go further into the city.

Not very much in the immediate vicinity of the port, would definitely suggest booking an excursion if you stop in Freeport

Bartenders at Fat Tuesdays were the only ones to get us even remotely buzzed the whole week. Bought sunscreen and wandered around for a couple hours. Dirty.

Had to take an excursion or taxi to get away from industrial port complex. Some in our group did that. 20 minute van ride in broiling heat in a packed van (they wouldn't leave until van was full) for $7 each way to Taino beach. They loved the beach, I think they paid like $25 for an umbrella and chairs. Some of us hung around, went to Senor Frogs, watched drunk people and got back on the boat. This actually turned out funnier than you'd think and we talked a lot more about our day than the ones who sat on the beach for their 3rd consecutive day. Read Less

Straw markets. Straw markets everywhere. The city was severely damaged by storms and tornadoes over the last years and they never got back on their feet. Some agressive street vendors. Some good stores and bars in tourist areas.
