If you are interested in exploring the rest of the island, this may be a good port. But if you (like us) no longer want to bake in the sun, and would like to find "local atmosphere" in port where the ship docks, avoid getting off the ship. The ship docks at a "plastic port," which is filled with shops offering dubious "bargains" on watches and jewelry, and the trickiest worded "guarantee" I have ever read (dis-satisfied buyers have 30 days to submit registered jewelry or watchmaker's statements about the purchased items, and have to obtain the merchant's permission to return the items for credit -- fat chance). Aside from these tourist traps, there are no interesting sites within walking distance of the ship. Read Less

We have been here several times. While they have posted lots of guards in the streets after you leave the gated shopping district we were still hounded hard by aggressive local males. They tried to sell everything from trinkets, to hair braiding to drugs and sexual favors. I will probably not cruise ships that port here any longer. Why port at a place you do not feel safe walking outside of the gated shopping district. Read Less

We climbed the falls for the first part of our excursion which was awesome. The second part of the excursion was at Reggae Hill - not awesome. Would not recommend.

The tour was not well organized. Food was terrible. Drinks were watered down. There was no direction as to what we were supposed to expect. This part of the tour was horrible.

It is just blatant clear that this stop is simply a tourist trap. It literally stops at the door of an ordinary 3rd world OUTLET. There is NO beach nor sand around nearby. If you want to go to a beach, you must take a 15 miles ride on a bus or a taxi. (NOT included on the package). Come on, take this stop away from the itinerary, and add more hours or days at HAITI or Cozumel. Read Less

We stayed in the secured port area, and enjoyed the area set up for the local artisans. Some items were pretty standard, but there were some unique items, such as the hand carved wooden stingrays that tempted me. The artist was even willing to carve the names of the three grandchildren on them. But make sure you bring cash, because these folk do not accept ccs. Read Less

Jamaica should not be allowed to have tourism in general. People are extremely pushy and rude and will not leave you alone!

Jamaica is the coolest!!! We took a 30 minute shuttle to Montego Bay for $20 each round trip and found a nice little open spot of the beach. Water is so clear and warm you could stay in it all day! Found a little hole in the wall spot called Cafe Mocha and got the jerk chicken plate...OMG, delicious. Our mouths we on fire for a while too! Caught the shuttle back to port (a little hectic as there are A LOT of different shuttles and you have to take the one you came with back to port so there were a lot of people waiting for their shuttle), but the driver was nice and gave us lots of little tidbits of information regarding the area and Jamaican culture. Vendors in port were pleasant and not pushy at all, but were welcoming and kind. We found a small hand carved bust statue of Bob Marley in the very back corner of one of the stores...SCORE! Read Less
