We paid $6 to take the bus from the ship into town and We did the HOHO bus (only one route). We went to the Castle and there was way to many people there. Wandered around but ended up going back to the ship early as it was a tender port and it took us quite awhile to get off the ship. It was crowded, but we loved Edinburgh. Really, really charming. We love old buildings and architecture, and the UK and Ireland are full of those. People were friendly at every stop, and we always felt safe. One word of advice: if you decide to take the train into Edinburgh from the ship, be prepared to walk up a long flight of steep steps, walk along a semi-steep trail, cross a small bridge with ...

It was my 8th time to Edinburgh and so I wasn't too excited about this one...but when the sun is shining, it's such a lovely city to just wander around. The location at Newhaven was really easy to get into the city by public bus, and I got to see Leith and some of the suburbs on the way in which I normally miss by coming from the airport.
