Dubrovnik: This was our last port and it was wonderful. We paid for the transfer to the old city (which at 10 Euros was what a taxi would have cost us), and then walked the 2 km. walls around the city. You don´t need a guided tour here, as the best experience you can have is walking the walls around the medieval city. The scenery was breathtaking. We also took a 45 min. boat tour around the harbor and an island in front of Dubrovnik, which was nice, but not as great as walking the walls. The city is tiny, and you can walk across it in 10 minutes. You need about an hour and a half to walk the walls if you are taking pictures. Warning:there are lots of stairs! Read Less

We enjoyed Dubrovnik, but if you don't do any tours, we found we covered the walled city in just a few hours, covering the entire wall, plenty of pictures and seeing everything we wanted to within the walls. It is very pretty and quaint. Very easy access by walking from the ship. We recommend as an easy port to visit and we only needed half the day. Read Less

Beautiful Port. Very hot. A tip, the steps around the wall were quite slippy, and very steep for the unfit to negotiate.Watch out for queue at entrance to walled city as this can become congested.

I had a fantastic special on Dubrovnik, Croatia before I left on my cruise. I was not disappointed. My friends and I took the shuttle from the ship, and walked all around the walled city (Old Town) on top of the walls. Exquisite views of the city and surrounding scenery. As we climbed higher and higher we were amazed to see people actually living in the small houses at the top of the walls. Back down in the city square, we visited beautiful churches and markets. Had a the best pizza ever at a little cafe. Some of our travel mates took a drive to see the beautiful "Croatia Riviera". The combination of palm trees, old relics, and gorgeous flowers make this a must see port. Read Less

We did a lot of research before our trip and therefore felt very secure with our choices. Cruise Critic and Trip Advisor played a major role in our decision making. We did Dubrovnik on our own, mostly following Rick Steve's' advice and all the wonderful entries of cruise critic members. We took our time getting off the ship, took the shuttle bus into town and walked the wall of Old Town. Sipped wine, purchased souvenirs and in general had a great day due to the great weather and people. Read Less

A wonderful medieval city, we enjoyed it on our own. The city is relatively small and very walkable. The views from walking the walls are beautiful, and the churches, alleys, and architecture are interesting. To get from the ship to the old town, we took a city bus. Just outside the port security gate is the bus terminal, and there is an ATM machine there. We withdrew some local currency and paid for the bus tickets, which were around 2 dollars per person each way. After about 5 minutes a bus arrived; it only made 3-4 stops before arriving at the old city gate. Returning to the ship was just as easy – we waited at the same stop. A ticket to walk the old city walls was 10 euros per person, but we recommend that it was well worth it. There are a lot of stairs along the walls, but the views of the city, the sea, and of the walls themselves are very interesting. We only walked half-way around the city, taking about 2 hours at a very slow pace, stopping often for photos and to rest. Descending from the walls on the back-side of the city (opposite the main “Pile” gate), we visited two churches and the old pharmacy on the way back. Our visit was cut short by rain, so we headed back for the city bus stop and returned to the ship. Read Less

Dubrovnik is a wonderful day trip. Don't book a shore excursion with NCL. Just hop on the free bus from the port to the old town, and follow one of the many online maps to see all the sights over the course of an afternoon.

Dubrovnik is an incredibly picturesque town! My son and I enjoyed it immensely. The ship had a complimentary shuttle service from the port to the entrance to the town walls. I used an ATM there to acquire some Kuna, and bought tickets to the town walls. We took a leisurely walk of about 2 hours around the walls, with many breaks, taking in the scenery. My son was so excited to see all of the boats! I used the back carrier -- I wouldn't recommend a stroller, with all of the stairs. Then, we had some ice cream and returned to the ship. A very sweet, albeit short, shore experience. Read Less

Dubrovnik is beautiful. We did this on our own. From the ship there is a bus which takes you downtown (only 5 minute ride). We climbed the steps to walk the wall. There are a lot of steps and there are additional steps/inclines when you get up there. We walked only 1/2 way around which took about 1 hour. The views were great. We then walked around the town and had lunch there. The 7th port was Corfu which exceeded our expectations. It is gorgeous. I highly recommend you take a tour which rides to the north of the island for spectacular views. We did the ship's tour which included Paleokastritsa, Lakones and at a Greek restaurant with live music. They also bring you back in to town. The tour guides even danced the Greek dance for us at lunch. The water in Corfu is a gorgeous turquoise and it is crystal clear. The town (Corfu town) is fun to walk around. The buildings are a Venetian style but no canals. Read Less

DUBROVNICH... Ship transfer took us to Old town and wall entrance. We walked the wall. To go all the way around would take at least 90 minutes or more with stops for photos etc. TIP!!! Don't forget the water! After the wall walk we strolled the old town. We had heard of the old Pharmacy run by the Francisan Monks. Wife bought special Magic anti-aging Rose cream. Not sure if it works yet! Ouch! From the bus stop we continued to walk up main road towards lookout. Follow the road and look out for signs to Car park. From here there are the best views back to the Old wall and NO tourists. Walked back towards bus and strolled through old houses. Found our way to cove set amongst the cliffs. Beautiful spot for a swim. Even without towels! Hot hot hot! Walked back towards bus and found out of the way restaurant with best views in town! Spent an hour here for wine and admire views. Finally had to make way back to bus for transfer back to ship. CORFU... Transfer took us to old town. Wandered around old fort and amongst ruins etc. Coffee stop and lunch in town. Browsed and shopped for hours. Would recommend a tour to beach with snorkeling. Not much to see in old town. Clothes are cheap and you can haggle with store owners. Back to ship for 2 days at sea before reaching Barcelona again. Read Less

Disembarking to Dubrovnik was a little slow and laborious but once there it was worth it. Because we were delayed disembarking it did cut down our time there somewhat but my husband and eldest son still managed to wall the city walls and took fabulous photos from there, whilst my youngest son and I ate arguably the best ice-cream in the world! Dubrovnik is truly beautiful and I will always remember the polished floor of the main street glimmering in the heat. Particularly was impressed by the hospitality tent set up by NCL at the port, offering iced water and cold towels. Well done NCL, you made us feel special and it was very welcomed in the heat of Dubrovnik. Read Less
